Biography

<p>Dr. Ushay is Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics as well as a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine. </p><p>After obtaining a PhD in Chemistry from Columbia University, Dr. Ushay received his MD from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School and completed a Pediatrics residency in the Montefiore-Jacobi-Einstein program. After serving as Chief Resident and a Fellow in Pediatric Pulmonology at Montefiore, he completed a Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center in 1993. He was a faculty member at NewYork-Presbyterian and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospitals from 1993 to 2005, and he served as Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program Director and Medical Director of the Pediatric Observation Unit at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. </p><p>In 2005 Dr. Ushay became Director of the Pediatric Critical Care Unit in The Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore. Dr. Ushay is involved in increasing pediatric ICU surge capacity through the New York City Pediatric Disaster Coalition, serving on its Central Leadership Council and teaching the Pediatric Fundamental Critical Care Support Course. Through the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, Dr. Ushay works on employing medical countermeasures safely for children in the event of chemical, biological or radiological disaster. Sponsored by Surgeons of Hope and Children&rsquo;s HeartLink, Dr. Ushay has worked as a cardiac intensivist in Cambodia, Africa, China and Nicaragua. </p>

<p>Dr. Sankin is an academic surgeon in the Department of Urology, at Montefiore Medical Center with a clinical focus on surgical approaches to the management of urologic malignancies of the upper urinary tract and bladder. His academic focus is divided between clinical and translational research studying emerging treatments and techniques central to the surgical care of patients with urologic cancers.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Dr. Sankin is the site-Principal Investigator for multiple clinical trials studying novel therapeutics for patients with bladder cancer who wish to avoid radical cystectomy. As an active member of multiple clinical trial consortiums including Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and the Society of Urologic Oncology Clinical Trials Consortium, Dr. Sankin speardeaded the development of a bladder cancer clinical trials program at Einstein.&nbsp;</p>
<p>His translational research focuses on characterizing the tumor immune microenvironment of bladder tumors and the role of novel checkpoint molecules as relevant therpeutic targets. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Alexander I. Sankin, MD, is Associate Professor, Urology at Montefiore Einstein. His clinical specialty is surgical approaches to treating urological malignancies, including prostate, testicular, renal and bladder cancer.</p><p>After earning his Master of Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 2004, Dr. Sankin earned his Doctor of Medicine from New York University in 2008 and completed his residency in surgery and urology at the State University of New York Downstate in 2013. He then completed a fellowship in urologic oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2015.</p><p>Building on his clinical focus, Dr. Sankin&rsquo;s research centers on bladder-preserving treatment options in patients with high-risk bladder cancer and the development of new immunotherapies for bladder cancer. <p>Dr. Levy, Director of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology at The Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore, was the principal investigator for the Children&rsquo;s Oncology Group, the nation's largest consortium of childhood cancer researchers, and currently leads an international clinical trial for children with recurrent brain tumors. Dr. Levy&rsquo;s clinical interests focus on brain tumors, particularly new drugs and treatment plans for children with brain tumors.</p>
<p>As Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Levy also has a strong interest in medical education. He is director of the pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship training program, and he is chair of the Committee on Graduate Medical Education.</p>
<p>After graduating from Cornell University, Dr. Levy received his medical degree from NYU School of Medicine. He was a Chief Resident in Pediatrics at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he received the Department of Pediatrics Resident Clinician-Teacher Award. He then completed his fellowship and was Chief Fellow in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and New York Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he received the Charles Trobman Memorial Award.&nbsp; He was nominated Attending Physician of the Year in Pediatrics at NYU Medical Center before joining Montefiore and Einstein. In 2007 he received a Children&rsquo;s Tumor Foundation Humanitarian Award for his care of children with tumors associated with neurofibromatosis, and in 2011 he was elected to the Society for Pediatric Research.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Adam Levy, MD, is a Clinical Professor who works per diem at Montefiore Einstein in the trainee&rsquo;s clinic. He specializes in general pediatric hematology and oncology, with a focus on tumors of the brain and spine, solid tumors and tumors associated with neurofibromatosis.</p><p>After receiving his Bachelor of Science at Cornell University, Dr. Levy earned his Doctor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine. Following this, he completed training in pediatrics at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and became Chief Resident. Dr. Levy then completed a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering and New York Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he served as Chief Fellow.</p><p>Dr. Levy&rsquo;s early research training in a transitional science laboratory focused on mechanisms and pathways explaining tumor cell chemotherapy resistance. He was the principal investigator for the Children&rsquo;s Oncology Group, the nation's largest consortium of childhood cancer researchers, and currently leads an international clinical trial for children with recurrent brain tumors. As a clinical investigator, his current research focuses on using new drugs and treatment plans for pediatric cancer patients. He has studied and published ways to improve clinical care of patients, mentorship in pediatric oncology, communication skills training and burnout amongst clinicians. He has been an invited presenter on these topics nationally.</p><p>Dr. Levy is a member of the Society for Pediatric Research, and his efforts have been recognized numerous times as a New York Magazine Top Doctor. He has also won many awards, including the Children&rsquo;s Tumor Foundation Humanitarian Award, The Davidoff Society Education Award and the Charles Trobman Memorial Award.</p>

<p>Stanley H. Boczko, MD, Assistant Professor of Urology, an expert in general urologic care and the treatment of all forms of urological disorders, joined Montefiore in 2016. Dr. Boczko currently serves as an Attending Physician in Urology at Montefiore and as a Clinical Instructor of Urology at Einstein. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The City College of New York.
