<p>Sara Schonfeld Rabin-Havt, MD, FACOG, FACMG is an attending physician and assistant professor in the division of Reproductive and Medical Genetics at Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical focus lies in prenatal and preconception genetic counseling, screening and testing; prenatal diagnosis; evaluation of recurrent pregnancy loss; genetic counseling and testing for hereditary cancer syndromes.</p><p>After earning her Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University (2005) and her Doctor of Medicine from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine (2009), Dr. Rabin-Havt came to Montefiore Einstein to complete residency in Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology and Women&rsquo;s Health (2013). She worked as a generalist in private practice before returning to Montefiore Einstein to complete a residency in medical genetics and genomics (2019).</p><p>Building on her clinical focus, Dr. Rabin-Havt is a principal investigator on a multi-center study investigating the genetic etiologies of non-immune fetal hydrops (NIHF). In addition, she participates in resident, fellow and medical student education and has been inducted into the Leo M. Davidoff Society for Outstanding Achievement in medical student teaching at Einstein. Her work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals.</p><p>Dr. Rabin-Havt is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and the American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG). She has served as a board member of the NYS Genetics Task Force and a committee member of the American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG) committee on Social, Ethical, and Legal issues (SELI). She was a member of the curriculum committee of the CREOG Cancer Genetics Curriculum which is available to OB/GYN residents nationwide.</p><p>Dr. Rabin-Havt is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) and the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG).</p>

<p>William Beau Mitchell, MD, is Director, Hemostasis and Thrombosis at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Mitchell&rsquo;s clinical focus centers on pediatric hematology, particularly bleeding and clotting disorders, with a special interest and expertise in platelet disorders.</p><p>After earning his Doctor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine in 1994, Dr. Mitchell completed a pediatric internship at Boston Medical Center in 1995, followed by his pediatric residency at the same institution in 1997. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology oncology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 2001 and a research fellowship in the laboratory of blood and vascular biology at Rockefeller University in 2006.</p><p>Dr. Mitchell&rsquo;s clinical research interests include novel therapies for rare blood disorders, hematological manifestations of disease, and transition from pediatric to adult care for patients with rare blood disorders. His basic science research interests include mechanisms of action of novel immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) therapies, platelet function in sickle cell disease, and the production of platelets from stem cells. Dr. Mitchell has been principal investigator and site principal investigator on a number of research projects, and he has given several national and international presentations. His work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications, books, chapters, and monographs, and he is an Associate Editor for Nature Pediatric Research. He is also a reviewer for many scientific journals, including the <em>Journal of Pediatrics: X</em>, <em>Pediatric Blood and Cancer</em> and the <em>Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis</em>.</p><p>Dr. Mitchell is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology Oncology. He is a member of the American Society of Hematology (ASH), the International Society for Hemostasis and Thrombosis (ISTH), and the American Society for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (ASPHO). Dr. Mitchell has received two U.S. patents for his work in &ldquo;Regulation of Integrin Surface Expression&rdquo; and &ldquo;Megakaryocyte and Platelet Production from Stem Cells.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Allison M. Martin, MD, is an attending physician at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics, Microbiology and Immunology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Martin&rsquo;s clinical focus centers on pediatric brain and spinal cord tumors.</p><p>After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in biology from Bryn Mawr College in 2001, Dr. Martin earned her Doctor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College in 2007. She completed her pediatrics residency at the University of Pittsburgh in 2010, followed by a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health in 2013. Following this, Dr. Martin completed an additional fellowship in pediatric neuro-oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2014.</p><p>Dr. Martin&rsquo;s research focuses on high-risk group 3 and refractory medulloblastoma. Her research program focuses on uncovering new ways to harness the immune system to treat this disease. Her work has been shared through numerous peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, case reports and invited talks and panels. She has also been principal investigator and co-investigator on several funded research projects and is a reviewer for <em>Cancers</em>.</p><p>Dr. Martin is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. She is a member of the Children&rsquo;s Oncology Group (COG), the Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program (CTEP) and the Society of Immunotherapy and Cancer (SITC). In 2021, Dr. Martin received the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellows Teaching Award from the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein. She was named a &ldquo;Top Doctor&rdquo; by Castle Connolly in 2024.</p>

<p>Deepa Manwani, MD, is Director, Pediatric Hematology at Children?s Hospital at Montefiore, as well as a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Manwani?s clinical focus is on benign hematology, anemia, sickle cell disease, thalassemia, hemophilia, bleeding disorders, thrombosis, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, ITP, erythrocytosis and leukocytosis. </p><p>Dr. Manwani graduated from B.J. Medical College, Poona University, India, in 1991, earning her Doctor of Medicine. She became a Research Assistant at the Children?s Hospital Oakland in 1991 before beginning an internship in Pediatrics at NSUH-Cornell University Med Center in 1993. Following her internship, Dr. Manwani completed a residency in Pediatrics at the same institution. In 1996, she began a fellowship in Pediatrics Hematology/Oncology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. </p><p>Dr. Manwani?s research focuses on fetal hemoglobin activating agents, adhesive cellular interactions in vaso-occlusion in sickle cell disease (SCD) and contribution of neutrophils to SCD pathophysiology. She completed the R01 funded Phase 1 study of IVIG in the treatment of SCD vaso-occlusive crises and is currently leading the R01 funded Phase II study. Dr. Manwani is currently participating in studies aimed at increased adherence to hydroxyurea and improved transition to adult care. She is also collaborating with investigators at Case Western Reserve University on an NHLBI R01 funded study to standardize monitoring of cellular adhesion in SCD patients using a novel microfluidic assay. Her contributions have been recognized by the Sickle Cell Thalassemia Patient Network of New York in the form of the Distinguished Service Award in March 2015. Dr. Manwani?s studies have been published nationally in various reviewed journals and books. </p><p>Dr. Manwani has received many awards, including Castle Connolly Top Doctor in 2016, New York Magazine Best Doctor and New York Metro Area?s Top Doctors in 2017. </p>
