Dr. Shariff received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She then completed her residency in general surgery and her fellowship in vascular surgery at Montefiore-Einstein. Marjan Rahmanian
<p><span>Dr. Marjan Rahmanian is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Neurology. She is an Associate Medical Director of Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at Montefiore Medical Center. She is also Medical Director of Physician Assistant Critical Care Residency program. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center. After completing her training, she joined the faculty of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, where she served as an Associate Director of Cardiothoracic Surgical ICU at Montefiore Medical center. As a cardiac intensivist, Dr. Rahmanian focuses on the management of post heart surgery like CABG, valve replacemant, Mechanical Circulatory Support like,ECMO, LVAD,Impella, heart and lung transplant.</p>

Dr. Mariuma has a special interest and specializes in neuromuscular neurology, electromyography and intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring.
Dr. Mariuma's research, similar to his clinical interests, focuses on the assessment of various neurological complications. He has been a part of numerous research projects with Montefiore.
<p>Eric J. Mariuma, MD is an attending physician in the neurology department at Montefiore and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Mariuma practices general neurology and is highly involved in the education of medical students, interns and residents. Dr. Mariuma is the Chief of Neurology Clinic at Wakefield Hospital and he serves as a preceptor for neurology residents in the neurology clinic at Jacobi Medical Center. Dr. Mariuma has a special interest and specializes in neuromuscular neurology, electromyography and intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring.</p><p>Dr. Mariuma graduated summa cum laude and valedictorian of Stony Brook University. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society when he was a medical student at New York University School of Medicine, and he was the recipient of the Hippolyte M. Wertheim Award as a medical student. After graduating medical school, Dr. Mariuma had an internal medicine internship at Winthrop University Hospital, during which he received the intern of the year award. In 2009, he completed the Neurology Residency Program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Mariuma completed his postgraduate training in 2010 at Montefiore with a fellowship in neurophysiology.</p><p>His research, similar to his clinical interests, focuses on the assessment of various neurological complications. He has been a part of numerous research projects with Montefiore.</p><p>Dr. Mariuma is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. </p>
Richard J. Lucariello

<p>Dr. Lucariello is a member of the Montefiore Einstein Center for Heart &Vascular Care Research Board.</p>
<p>Richard Lucariello, MD, is Clinical Director, Non-Invasive Cardiology at the Wakefield Campus of Montefiore and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical interests include clinical cardiology, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.</p><p>Dr. Lucariello earned his Bachelor of Science in biology at Fordham University in 1979, followed by his Doctor of Medicine at New York Medical College in 1984. He began his postdoctoral training at Westchester County Medical Center, completing a medicine internship in 1985 and a two-year medicine residency in 1987. He then completed a cardiology fellowship at St. Vincent’s Hospital & Medical Center in 1989 before returning to Westchester County Medical Center to complete a nuclear cardiology fellowship in 1990.</p><p>Following his clinical interests, Dr. Lucariello’s research focuses primarily on echocardiography. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and abstracts.</p><p>Dr. Lucariello is actively involved in educating medical residents and cardiology fellows at the Wakefield campus, and was awarded the Program Director’s Training Award for Cardiology for the 2011–2012 academic year. He is board certified and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography.</p>
Evan C. Lipsitz
<p>A vascular surgeon, Dr. Lipsitz' research interests include the treatment of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms, accessing them via the affected vessels using what clinicians call endovascular techniques. He investigates the role of wireless pressure-sensor technology in association with such treatment, and he has evaluated the use of endovascular stent-graft technology in the treatment of traumatic lesions.</p>

<p>Dr. Lipsitz' research also has focused on limb salvage and the treatment of lower extremity peripheral vascular disease (PVD), the obstruction of large arteries to the legs. In treating PVD, he has studied both open surgical and endovascular techniques. He helped to popularize subintimal angioplasty in the U.S. The technique opens a totally occluded blood vessel using a wire passed within the wall of the vessel but not within the occluded "true" lumen, or inner open space, of the vessel. Once the wire is in place, a balloon is used to open the pathway.</p>

<p>Additionally, Dr. Lipsitz maintains an active interest in the non-invasive laboratory diagnosis of vascular disease. He studies carotid artery disease and stroke prevention, and has evaluated the role of cerebral protection during carotid artery angioplasty and stenting. Cerebral protection seeks to minimize trauma to the brain during surgery by employing drugs and techniques, including positioning and specialized monitoring.</p>

He has been an investigator in clinical trials of numerous grafts and has evaluated the efficacy of wireless pressure sensors and endostaples as adjunctive therapies utilized with these grafts.</p><p>Dr. Lipsitz' research has also focused on limb salvage and the treatment of lower extremity peripheral vascular disease (PVD), the obstruction of large arteries to the legs. In treating PVD, he has studied both open surgical and endovascular techniques, including the use of various grafts, and stents. His work helped popularize the minimally invasive technique of subintimal angioplasty in the U.S.</p>
<p>Evan C. Lipsitz, MD, MBA, is Chief, Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Medical Director, Vascular Diagnostic Laboratory, and Professor, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at Montefiore Einstein. His clinical focus encompasses the full range of vascular treatments, including endovascular thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic dissection, carotid artery disease and stroke prevention, lower extremity peripheral arterial disease and limb salvage, endovascular and open treatments for aneurysms and peripheral arterial disease.</p><p>In 1990, Dr. Lipsitz received his Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. He pursued postdoctoral training at Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, completing his internship and residency in general surgery as well as an ECMO clinical and research fellowship. He later came to Montefiore Einstein, completing his vascular surgery fellowship in 1999. In 2017, Dr. Lipsitz received his Master of Business Administration from The Heller School for Social Policy and Management, Brandeis University.</p><p>Dr. Lipsitz's research focus includes the utilization of endovascular graft technology for treating thoracic and abdominal aneurysms. He has been an investigator in clinical trials of numerous grafts and has evaluated the efficacy of wireless pressure sensors and endostaples as adjunctive therapies utilized with these grafts. Dr. Lipsitz has also focused research on limb salvage and the treatment of lower extremity peripheral vascular disease (PVD). In treating PVD, he has studied both open surgical and endovascular techniques, including the use of various grafts and stents. His work has helped popularize the minimally invasive technique of subintimal angioplasty technique in the United States. He is also interested in healthcare policy and development, particularly in the area of quality metrics. Dr. Lipsitz has published more than 110 papers in scientific journals and over 40 book chapters. He also is a reviewer for several journals and is active in healthcare policy and management.</p><p>Dr. Lipsitz is board certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and is a member of several professional societies including the Society for Vascular Ultrasound, the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society and the International Society of Endovascular Specialists. He has been named in <em>New York Magazine’s</em> “Best Doctors in New York” as well as Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctors: New York Metro Area” for several years.</p>
