<p>Mona Gangar, MD, MS, is Director. Medical Students; Co-director, Pediatric thyroid program; Faculty Advisor, ENT interest group and Assistant Professor of Otorhinolaryngology&ndash;Head &amp; Neck Surgery at Montefiore-Einstein. Her clinical interests are in all aspects of pediatric otorhinolaryngology with a focus on pediatric head and neck pathology, and special interests in pediatric thyroid disease, vascular anomalies, resident/medical student education and global health.</p><p>In 1999, Dr. Gangar received her Bachelor of Science in neuroscience from the University of California Los Angeles. She attended MCP Hahnemann University from 2000 to 2002, earning her Master of Science in medical science. She then attended New York Medical College to pursue her Doctor of Medicine degree, earning it in 2006. Her postdoctoral training included an otorhinolaryngology&ndash;head and neck surgery residency at Einstein from 2006 to 2011, followed by a yearlong fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Rady&rsquo;s Children&rsquo;s Hospital, which she completed in 2012.</p><p>Dr. Gangar&rsquo;s research focuses on all aspects of pediatric otorhinolaryngology. She has shared her work through publication in journals and podium and poster presentations.</p><p>Dr. Gangar is board certified and is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology&ndash;Head and Neck Surgery and the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology.</p>

<p>Dr Fried's research interests are in the realm of technical applications for the improvement of surgery as it relates to disorders of the head and neck. This has included laser applications and safety, computer-assisted and image-guided surgery, and surgical simulation. He has been the principal investigator on grants issues by the Department of Defense, as well as current investigator from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.He is currently investigating the use of sophisticated surgical simulation for training of residents and physicians for endoscopic sinus surgery and its relationship to the improvement of patient safety. He has authored over 150 original reports, reviews, and chapters, as well as books and monographs. He has been the Senior Editor of two editions of a definitive textbook on laryngeal disorders.</p>

<p>His awards include first place award for Basic Research in Otolaryngology as a Resident from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology (1975), the Edmund Prince Fowler Award for Basic Science Research from the American Laryngological, Rhinological, and Otological Society (Triologic Society) 1984, the Honor Award of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery 1988, and the Mark Award for Contributions to the Advancement of Laser Medicine and Surgery in 1994 from the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He received the Medal of the City of Paris in 1987. He has been listed in the Best Doctors in America; Best Doctors in New York (Castle Connolly Medical LTD), as well as in "New York's Top 100 Minimally Invasive Surgeons," and "New York's Best Doctors" (New York Magazine). He has been President of the Society of University Otolaryngologists-Head and Neck Surgeons, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. Biography

<p>A New York native, Marvin P. Fried, MD, graduated from City College of New York, where he received the prestigious New York City Jonas Salk Award and Scholarship. After earning his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Fried trained in Otolaryngology at Washington University School of Medicine, where he also was a Fellow of the National Institute of Neurologic Disease and Stroke. He then served as Surgeon (Commander) in the United States Public Health Service in Virginia. His first faculty appointment was at Boston University School of Medicine and Tufts University School of Medicine, which was followed by 17 years at Harvard Medical School, where he became Professor of Otology and Laryngology. He also served as Chief of Divisions of Otolaryngology at Brigham and Women&rsquo;s Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.</p><p>Dr. Fried has received numerous awards, including the Honor Award of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the Mark Award for Contributions to the Advancement of Laser Medicine and Surgery from the American Society for Laser Medicine Surgery and the Medal of the City of Paris for the First International Symposium offered by Harvard Medical School. He has been listed as a Top Doctor in America by Castle Connolly and among &ldquo;New York&rsquo;s Best Doctors&rdquo; by New York Magazine and The New York Times. He has also held various national positions and contributed to various publications and journals. <p>Elizabeth M. Alderman, MD, a nationally recognized specialist in adolescent medicine, is Professor of Pediatrics and Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology and Women&rsquo;s Health at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Alderman is the Chief, Division of Adolescent Medicine at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore. She is currently the Program Director of the Post-doctoral fellowship in Adolescent Medicine and is past Program Director of the Pediatric Residency Program. Dr. Alderman is founder of the Montefiore Adolescent Primary Care Initiative.</p>
<p>Dr. Alderman received her BS, with honors, from Cornell University and MD with Distinction in Research from the State University of New York at Stony Brook Medical School where she was selected for membership to Alpha Phi Omega medical honors society. Dr. Alderman completed her pediatrics residency and adolescent medicine fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/ Montefiore Medical Center.</p>
<p>She joined the pediatric faculty at Einstein/Montefiore upon completion of her fellowship in 1992 and has remained throughout her career, achieving promotion to professor in 2003.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Dr. Alderman is the Co-chairperson of the AAP Council of Adolescent and Young Adult Health. She was Chair of the AAP Committee on Adolescence for 4 years and was previously a member of for the 6 years. She served as Chairperson of the AAP Section of Adolescent Health Executive Committee from 2008-2012. As a member of AAP NY Chapter 3 Executive Council for over 25 years, she has served as chair of the Committee on Adolescence and on its Executive Committee. She is a past-president of the North American Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and former Member at Large of the Board of Directors for the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine. Dr. Alderman has been a leader or panelist on many national initiatives related to adolescent health.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Dr. Alderman&rsquo;s clinical interests include care for adolescents with heavy menstrual bleeding, contraception for adolescents with chronic illness, menstrual disorders, eating disorders and overall adolescent sexual health. She is co-editor of the AAP Textbook of Adolescent Health Care. Dr. Alderman has authored 65 research papers, review articles and chapters. She has presented over 40 abstracts at national meetings and delivered over 50 lectures and workshops in the past 5 years at regional and national meetings.</p>
<p>Dr. Alderman is known nationally and throughout the region as an outstanding clinician and she is regularly named to the &ldquo;Best Doctors in New York&rdquo; and &ldquo;New York Super Doctors&rdquo; lists. In 2003, the American Academy of Pediatrics recognized her with a Special Achievement Award from the New York Chapter for promoting adolescent health.&nbsp;</p>

Biography

<p>Elizabeth M. Alderman, MD, FAAP, FSAHM, is Chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM). She is also a Professor of Pediatrics and Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology and Women&rsquo;s Health at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Alderman&rsquo;s clinical focuses are on office gynecology, including a special practice for girls with heavy menstrual bleeding or abnormal vaginal bleeding, as well as the medical management of eating disorders. Her clinical expertise also includes reproductive health for both adolescent boys and girls. She joined the Montefiore team as faculty in 1992.</p><p>Dr. Alderman received her Bachelor of Science with Honors, from Cornell University, College of Agriculture and Life Science in 1983. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine degree with Distinction in Research, from State University of New York at Stony Book in 1987. Dr. Alderman began a residency in Pediatrics in 1987, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at Montefiore and Einstein. </p><p>Dr. Alderman&rsquo;s research interests focus on quality improvement in the delivery of adolescent health care and health screening. She has published research on sexually transmitted infections and adolescent gynecology.</p><p>Dr. Alderman has been a recipient of numerous awards for her clinical work and research. In 2013, she received the Adele Dellenbaugh Hoffman Award for excellence in adolescent medicine, given by the American Academy of Pediatrics.</p><p>Dr. Alderman is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of many professional societies, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, where she is currently the Chair of the Committee of Adolescence and past chairperson of the Section of Adolescent Health Executive Committee, the Society for Adolescent Medicine, as a former Executive Board member and the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology of which she was past president.</p>
