Rosengard, MD, is an attending physician and Associate Professor of Neurology at Montefiore Einstein. She specializes in the diagnosis and management of seizures and epilepsy. She completed an internship in internal medicine at New York University Langone Medical Center in 2013 before completing her residency in neurology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in 2016, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Rosengard then completed a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Einstein in 2017.</p>

<p>Puja Patel, MD, is an attending physician at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Professor, Neurology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Patel's clinical focus is pediatric epilepsy, although she also sees patients with general pediatric neurological issues, including headaches, movement disorders, sleep concerns and developmental delay.</p><p>After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in biology from Barnard College in 2005, Dr. Patel earned her Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in 2009. She completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at NewYork-Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center in 2011. Following this, Dr. Patel came to Montefiore Einstein to continue her medical training, completing her pediatric neurology residency in 2014, a clinical neurophysiology fellowship in 2015 and a behavioral neurosciences fellowship in 2016.</p><p>Dr. Patel&rsquo;s research focuses on clinical seizure prediction in the pediatric population. She has been co-investigator in several clinical drug trials investigating new anti-seizure medications. <p>William Beau Mitchell, MD, is Director, Hemostasis and Thrombosis at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Mitchell&rsquo;s clinical focus centers on pediatric hematology, particularly bleeding and clotting disorders, with a special interest and expertise in platelet disorders.</p><p>After earning his Doctor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine in 1994, Dr. Mitchell completed a pediatric internship at Boston Medical Center in 1995, followed by his pediatric residency at the same institution in 1997. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology oncology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 2001 and a research fellowship in the laboratory of blood and vascular biology at Rockefeller University in 2006.</p><p>Dr. Mitchell&rsquo;s clinical research interests include novel therapies for rare blood disorders, hematological manifestations of disease, and transition from pediatric to adult care for patients with rare blood disorders. His basic science research interests include mechanisms of action of novel immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) therapies, platelet function in sickle cell disease, and the production of platelets from stem cells. Dr. Mitchell has been principal investigator and site principal investigator on a number of research projects, and he has given several national and international presentations. His work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications, books, chapters, and monographs, and he is an Associate Editor for Nature Pediatric Research. He is also a reviewer for many scientific journals, including the <em>Journal of Pediatrics: X</em>, <em>Pediatric Blood and Cancer</em> and the <em>Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis</em>.</p><p>Dr. Mitchell is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology Oncology. He is a member of the American Society of Hematology (ASH), the International Society for Hemostasis and Thrombosis (ISTH), and the American Society for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (ASPHO). Dr. Mitchell has received two U.S. patents for his work in &ldquo;Regulation of Integrin Surface Expression&rdquo; and &ldquo;Megakaryocyte and Platelet Production from Stem Cells.&rdquo;</p>

<p>Dr. Sheryl Haut is Director of the Adult Epilepsy Program and Chief of Service, Neurology at Montefiore Einstein. She is the previous Chair of the North American Commission of the International League Against Epilepsy. Her research interests include: the temporal distribution of seizures, with emphasis on seizure clustering; seizure prediction and pre-emption; and alternative therapies for epilepsy. She is currently conducting electronic diary studies of seizure prediction and was the Principal Investigator of the first randomized controlled trial of stress management for refractory epilepsy using smartphone diaries. Dr. Haut has a Masters in Clinical Research Methods, and completed a K23 career development award from the NIH. She maintains an active adult epilepsy practice at Montefiore Medical Center, Moses Division.</p>

<p>Dr. Sheryl Haut is Director of the Adult Epilepsy Program at Montefiore. She has extensive experience treating all forms of epilepsy in young and older adults, and in tailoring treatments to the individual. She focuses on special needs such as pregnancy, stress, driving, work related issues, and issues in the elderly.</p> <p>Dr. Haut has an extensive research background, including a Masters of Clinical Research with Distinction from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her research interests focus on seizure clustering; seizure prediction and pre-emption; and alternative therapies for epilepsy. She is one of the first investigators to run a clinical trial of stress management for epilepsy, using smartphone diaries.</p> <p>Dr. Haut is the current Chair of the North American Commission of the International League Against Epilepsy, and is active nationally in the American Epilepsy Society, and the American Academy of Neurology, serving on committees of both organizations. She has authored more than 50 papers/book chapters on epilepsy, and has been featured in Top Doctors of NY annually since 2009. She maintains an active adult epilepsy practice at the Moses Campus.</p>

<p>Patricia A. Hametz, MD, MPH, is Chief of the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM). As Chief, she oversees the care of children admitted to the general pediatrics service, consultation service and co-management of patients on the pediatric surgery and surgical subspecialty services. She is also an Attending Physician at CHAM and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her clinical focus is on providing family-centered care for all hospitalized children and on developing and implementing systems of care for children with medical complexities.</p><p>Dr. Hametz received her Doctor of Medicine in 1995 from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. In 2008, she received her Master of Public Health from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. Dr. Hametz completed an internship and residency in Pediatrics at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York from 1995 to 1999 and became Chief Resident in 1998.</p><p>Dr. Hametz&rsquo;s research focuses on improving care and the systems in which care is provided to hospitalized children and adolescents, and their families. Her original communications have been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, as well as invited publications. Biography

<p>Jonathan M. Gursky, MD, is an Attending Physician at Montefiore and Assistant Professor of Neurology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of adults and adolescents with epilepsy and seizure disorders.</p><p>After earning his Bachelor of Science at Cornell University in 2010, Dr. Gursky attended the New York University School of Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 2014. He began his postgraduate training in 2014 with a year-long internship in internal medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He continued his training at this institution and completed a residency in neurology in 2018, becoming Chief Resident in his final year. In 2019, Dr. Gursky completed a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Montefiore.</p><p>Expanding on his clinical focus, Dr. Gursky&rsquo;s research examines the interactions between epilepsy with various neurological and general medical disorders. His findings have been published in peer-reviewed journals and articles and have been shared at national lectures and presentations.</p><p>Dr. Gursky holds additional clinical interests in the effects of epilepsy on mental and behavioral health.</p><p>Dr. Gursky is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society and the American Epilepsy Society and is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. </p>
