<p>Jonathan M. Schwartz is a board Certified Transplant Hepatologist. &nbsp;He is a graduate of Tel Aviv University, Sackler School of Medicine. He was an Internal Medicine Resident at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a Fellow in Gastroenterology/Transplant Hepatology at the University of Washington in Seattle. &nbsp;He returned to New York in 2011 from Portland, Oregon where he served as an Associate Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health and Sciences University.</p>
<p>Dr. &nbsp;Schwartz has an interest in treating patients with acute and chronic liver diseases including those patients with advanced liver diseases who require liver transplantation.</p>
<p>He has a special interest in the multidisciplinary care of patients with liver tumors.</p>

Biography

<p>John F. Reinus, MD, is Emeritus Medical Director, Liver Transplantation and Professor, Medicine at Montefiore Einstein. His work centers on liver transplantation, end-stage liver disease and viral hepatitis.</p><p>Dr. Reinus studied Pre-Medical Sciences at Columbia University before earning his Doctor of Medicine at Cornell Medical College in 1981. He then began an internal medicine internship at Bellevue Hospital Center, completing it in 1982. Following this, Dr. Reinus completed a residency in internal medicine at the same institution in 1984 before completing a hepatology fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine in 1985. He went on to complete a fellowship in gastroenterology at the same institution, finishing it in 1987. Dr. Reinus then completed a Transplant Hepatology Preceptorship at the Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation in 2006.</p><p>Building on his clinical focus, Dr. Reinus&rsquo; research is focused on liver diseases and related topics. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, books, chapters, reviews and abstracts, and he has presented at numerous conferences and meetings.</p><p>Dr. Reinus is board certified by the American Board of Medical Examiners in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology. He is a fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society of Transplantation.</p>

Biography

<p>Kimberly J. Reidy, MD, is Chief, Division of Pediatric Nephrology and Associate Professor at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) and Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical focus is on the treatment of hypertension and childhood-onset kidney disease. She has particular interest in nephrotic syndrome and glomerular diseases, congenital abnormalities of the kidney and urinary tract, and genetic kidney diseases.</p><p>After earning her Bachelor of Arts in chemistry at Princeton University in 1997, Dr. Reidy attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine, earning her Doctor of Medicine in 2002. Her postdoctoral training began with a pediatric internship and residency at Children&rsquo;s Hospital of New York, NewYork-Presbyterian from 2002 to 2005. She then pursued a three-year National Institutes of Health (NIH) supported fellowship in pediatric nephrology at CHAM, completing it in 2008.</p><p>Dr. Reidy&rsquo;s clinical research focuses on children with glomerular and chronic kidney disease, including NIH funded Nephrotic Syndrome Study Network (NEPTUNE) and Cure Glomerulonephropathy (CureGN) studies of children with nephrotic syndrome. Her translational research focuses on the effect of APOL1 risk variants on preeclampsia and perinatal outcomes. Her bench research focuses on effects of developmental genes on kidney repair and fibrosis after injury. She has shared her work through many peer-reviewed journals, invited presentations, book chapters and abstracts. Dr. Reidy is also an ad hoc reviewer for many journals including <em>Pediatric Nephrology, Kidney International and the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology</em>.</p><p>Dr. Reidy is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric nephrology. She is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Neonatal Kidney Collaborative. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Section of Nephrology for the AAP. From 2016 through 2021, she has been listed among Castle Connolly Top Doctors: New York Metro Area. In 2021, she was elected to membership in the Leo M. Davidoff Society, recognizing her long-term commitment to excellence in teaching medical students.</p>

Amira Mohamed completed her medical school education in Khartoum, Sudan before moving to the United States. She completed an internal medicine residency and sub-specialized in Critical Care Medicine after which she joined Montefiore Medical Center in 2019.<br />Dr. Mohamed became involved in the medical education of both internal medicine residents and critical care medicine fellows soon after joining Montefiore and was appointed the Associate Program Director of the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program in early 2021. She rebuilt the fellow curriculum and strengthened their involvement in non-clinical duties such as research and quality improvement. She became the Program Director in 2022.<br />Outside of medical education, Dr. Mohamed is the Associate Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the Moses campus and her research interests include vaccine effectiveness and healthcare disparities.

Research Focus

Amira Mohamed is an intensivist with a specific interest in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and respiratory failure. As the Associate Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the Moses campus, she is involved in multiple quality improvement projects such as ventilator liberation with spontaneous awakening and breathing trials and measures to decrease Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections.<br />As an intensivist and a clinical educator, Dr. Mohamed's focus has been on resident and fellow education. She has contributed to the recent changes in the Critical Care Curriculum with a renewed focus on research and quality improvement. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Mohamed joined the ICY network in a CDC-funded study of vaccine effectiveness and has published multiple studies on this topic.
