<p>Richard Lucariello, MD, is Clinical Director, Non-Invasive Cardiology at the Wakefield Campus of Montefiore and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical interests include clinical cardiology, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.</p><p>Dr. Lucariello earned his Bachelor of Science in biology at Fordham University in 1979, followed by his Doctor of Medicine at New York Medical College in 1984. He began his postdoctoral training at Westchester County Medical Center, completing a medicine internship in 1985 and a two-year medicine residency in 1987. He then completed a cardiology fellowship at St. Vincent&rsquo;s Hospital &amp; Medical Center in 1989 before returning to Westchester County Medical Center to complete a nuclear cardiology fellowship in 1990.</p><p>Following his clinical interests, Dr. Lucariello&rsquo;s research focuses primarily on echocardiography. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and abstracts.</p><p>Dr. Lucariello is actively involved in educating medical residents and cardiology fellows at the Wakefield campus, and was awarded the Program Director&rsquo;s Training Award for Cardiology for the 2011&ndash;2012 academic year. He is board certified and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography.</p>

<p>Dr. Lillian Colon joined the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1992, when she became a psychiatry resident, training at the Montefiore Medical Center and associated institutions. Prior to that she had graduated from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 1992. After graduating from residency in 1996, Dr. Colon joined the then MMC Schizophrenia Clinic where she participated in conducting trials of antipsychotics and mood stabilizing medications which are still utilized today in patient care. <p>Dr. Akiyama is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Clinician-Investigator in the Divisions of General Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. In addition to providing care and treatment to people living with HIV, hepatitis C virus (HCV), and substance use disorders, Dr. Akiyama conducts research focusing on HCV among socioeconomically marginalized populations with particular emphasis on the intersection of HCV in the criminal legal system and sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Akiyama is the recipient of a K99/R00 award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse to develop and test an innovative strategy to improve linkage to and retention in HCV treatment among individuals recently released from jail. He is also the recipient of an Avenir Award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse focused on HCV Transmission Networks Among People Who Inject Drugs.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Dr. Akiyama&nbsp;completed his Infectious Diseases Fellowship at New York University/Bellevue Hospital Center and a Master of Science in Medical Anthropology at University College London in London, England.&nbsp;</p>

Biography

<p>Ammar Yasser Ahmad, MD, is Attending Psychiatrist at Montefiore. His clinical focus is psychosomatic medicine, with particular interest in heart and lung transplant psychiatry.</p><p>In 2007, Dr. Ahmad received his Bachelor of Science in history and biology at the University of Pittsburgh. He then attended St. George&rsquo;s University, where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 2014. He began his postgraduate training in 2015 with a four-year residency in psychiatry at the Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, becoming Chief Resident in his final year. In 2019, he began a yearlong fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry at Montefiore. In 2020, Dr. Ahmad completed the certificate program in bioethics and medical humanities at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine.</p><p>Dr. Ahmad&rsquo;s research focuses on psychosomatic medicine and medical ethics, particularly in the area of organ transplantation selection. His work has been published in a number of abstracts.</p><p>In 2020, Dr. Ahmad received the Davidoff Teaching Award. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a member of the American Psychiatric Association. </p>
