Amira Mohamed completed her medical school education in Khartoum, Sudan before moving to the United States. Amira Mohamed is an intensivist with a specific interest in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and respiratory failure. As the Associate Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the Moses campus, she is involved in multiple quality improvement projects such as ventilator liberation with spontaneous awakening and breathing trials and measures to decrease Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections.<br />As an intensivist and a clinical educator, Dr. Mohamed's focus has been on resident and fellow education. She has contributed to the recent changes in the Critical Care Curriculum with a renewed focus on research and quality improvement. <p>Allison M. Martin, MD, is an attending physician at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics, Microbiology and Immunology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Martin&rsquo;s clinical focus centers on pediatric brain and spinal cord tumors.</p><p>After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in biology from Bryn Mawr College in 2001, Dr. Martin earned her Doctor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College in 2007. She completed her pediatrics residency at the University of Pittsburgh in 2010, followed by a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health in 2013. Following this, Dr. Martin completed an additional fellowship in pediatric neuro-oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2014.</p><p>Dr. Martin&rsquo;s research focuses on high-risk group 3 and refractory medulloblastoma. Her research program focuses on uncovering new ways to harness the immune system to treat this disease. <p>Dr. Maisonet was drawn to pediatric emergency medicine during medical school, when through a National Health Service Corps Scholarship, she worked in an inner-city clinic in Philadelphia. There, she saw how crack cocaine devastated families and neighborhoods. She knew then that she wanted to care for patients in the inner city, a desire that led her to become a pediatrician at Montefiore Medical Center.</p><p>At Montefiore, Dr. Maisonet was one of the first recipients of the Faculty Development Scholarship and was able to study and obtain a master of science degree in the Clinical Research Training Program.
