<p>Dr. Galen graduated from Brown University with honors in the biological sciences and earned an M.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine. &nbsp;He trained in internal medicine at Yale University where he was elected to the Gold Humanism Honor Society and was the class speaker at residency graduation. &nbsp;He joined Montefiore and Einstein in 2013 as a teaching attending in Hospital Medicine</p>
<p>Dr. Galen is an Associate Program Director in The Einstein/Montefiore Internal Medicine Residency Program, the Director of Firm 3 and the Director of ultrasound and procedure training. &nbsp;In 2015 Dr. Galen received the Sharon R. Silbiger Faculty Teaching Award from the Einstein residents. &nbsp;He has led hundreds of resident teaching conferences and has worked to formalize curricula for point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) and bedside procedures, such as lumbar puncture and paracentesis. &nbsp;Dr. Galen has taught in the EPHEM, Microbiology, and PDC classes at Einstein. &nbsp;He has led translational research on recurrent meningitis, collaborting with members of Betsy Herold's laboratory. He has co-authored over 20 original research studies. &nbsp;Dr. Galen is passionate about medical case reports and he has mentored residents and junior faculty in the process of publishing cases in a variety of venues. &nbsp;</p>
<p>Dr. Galen is the editor-in-chief of <em>POCUS Journal (</em><a href="https://pocusjournal.com/">https://pocusjournal.com/)</a>, the world's leading peer-reviewed, open-access publication for point-of-care ultrasound. &nbsp;He teaches POCUS nationally at a variety of workshops and conferences.&nbsp;</p>

Biography

<p>Jillian Connors, MD, FAAP, is a neonatologist and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Connors is a neonatal-perinatal medicine specialist, and in her clinical role, she cares for critically ill and preterm infants with a wide variety of acute and chronic healthcare needs.</p><p>After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in biology from Canisius College in 2007, Dr. Connors earned her Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2011. She then attended the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she completed her pediatric internship and residency in 2014 and became Chief Resident until 2015. Dr. Connors also completed a neonatal-perinatal fellowship at this institution in 2018.</p><p>Building on her clinical focus, Dr. Connors&rsquo; research focuses on quality improvement, simulation, neonatal nutrition and breastfeeding. Biography

<p>Anne Barmettler, MD, is Director, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Division and Professor, Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and Surgery at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Barmettler&rsquo;s clinical specialty is oculoplastic surgery, which involves plastic and reconstructive surgery of the upper face, eyelids, orbit (bony cavity around the eye), and lacrimal (tear) system.</p><p>After earning her Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry at Bowdoin College in 2003, Dr. Barmettler pursued her Doctor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson Medical College, earning the degree in 2008. Her postdoctoral training began with a yearlong internship at Crozer Chester Medical Center, which she completed in 2009 before beginning a three-year residency in ophthalmology at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical College. She then undertook a competitive two-year fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery from 2012 to 2014, training at William Beaumont Hospital, Kresge Eye Institute at Wayne State University and Consultants in Ophthalmic Facial Plastic Surgery.</p><p>Dr. Barmettler's research builds on her clinical interests in the treatment of conditions of the eyelid, orbit and lacrimal system. She has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles of original research, textbook chapters and review papers. She is routinely invited to give lectures and presentations at national and international meetings. Dr. Barmettler has been recognized for her dedication to research and now acts on the editorial board for the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery's journal of <em>Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery</em>. She also serves as Editor for the American Academy of Ophthalmology website, Eyewiki, and is a peer-reviewer for many journals, including <em>JAMA Ophthalmology, Facial Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Medicine, Orbit, BMJ Open, American Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports</em>, and <em>Clinical Ophthalmology</em>.</p><p>Dr. Barmettler is board certified and a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Asian Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, New York Ophthalmological Society, and the North American Society of Academic Orbital Surgeons. She is one of only 800 surgeons that are a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), passing both written and oral exams and a peer-reviewed thesis on spacer graft in lower eyelid retraction surgery. This research was recognized by the official national ophthalmology society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, being awarded &ldquo;Best of ASOPRS" in 2017.</p>
