<p>Wen-Jeng M. Yao, MD, is an Attending Physician and Associate Professor in Ophthalmology at Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical focus is on routine and complex cataract surgery, medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma, and comprehensive ophthalmology. She enjoys establishing long-lasting relationships with her patients, delivering the highest quality clinical and surgical care in ophthalmology, and teaching residents who are training to become future ophthalmologists.</p><p>After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree at Cornell University, Dr. Yao attended Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, earning her Doctor of Medicine in 2006. She began her postdoctoral training with a yearlong internship at Saint Peters University Hospital, followed by her residency in ophthalmology at George Washington University in 2010. In 2011, she completed her surgical glaucoma fellowship at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.</p><p>Dr. Yao&rsquo;s research interests involve identifying epidemiological associations of glaucoma and advancing surgical and laser techniques for glaucoma therapy. Her work has been shared through peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, abstracts and poster presentations.</p><p>Dr. Yao is board certified and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society. She was listed as a Castle Connelly Top Doctor in 2021, 2022 and 2023.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Theresa Serra, MD, joined the CHAM hospitalist division in 2014 after working as a pediatric hospitalist at New York Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital. Her interests include clinical research and medical education. She has conducted an IRB approved retrospective chart review examining readmission rates in pediatric patients diagnosed with osteomyelitis. Dr. Serra is currently developing a medical Spanish curriculum for faculty members in order to improve communication between patients, families and providers. Along with Courtney McNamara, MD, Dr. Serra is a co-leader of a multidisciplinary committee dedicated to standardizing and improving quality of care for patients hospitalized with the diagnosis of failure to thrive. Dr. Serra is also working on an initiative to identify vaccine delinquency in the inpatient setting through the use of SMART reports.</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Dr. Serra is also collaborating with Lindsey Douglas, MD, MSCR, in an IRB approved quality improvement (QI) project to improve transition-of-care communication between hospitalists and primary care providers and to facilitate the establishment of medical homes. Dr. Serra is also a member of a subcommittee that leads monthly journal clubs/case conferences for pediatric hospitalists.</p>

Dr. Medow is a Pediatric Ophthalmologist with over 35 years experience in treating disorders of the eyes of children. He has special expertise in treating cataracts, glaucoma and corneal diseases in the pediatric age group. He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical College. <p>Richard M. Klein, MD, is an attending physician, Retina and Assistant Professor, Ophthalmology &amp; Visual Science at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Klein&rsquo;s clinical focus is in diseases of the vitreous and retina, with special interest in diabetic retinopathy and pathological myopia.</p><p>After receiving his Bachelor of Arts at Amherst College in 1966, Dr. Klein attended Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 1970. In 1971, he completed his medical internship at Cornell University, New York Hospital. He then pursued a three-year ophthalmology residency at Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital, completing it in 1974. In 1975, he completed a yearlong fellowship in retinal surgery at the same institution.</p><p>Dr. Klein&rsquo;s research focuses on diabetic retinopathy treatment, including the establishment of a diabetic retinopathy public health program in Myanmar. Since 2011, Dr. Klein has led small groups of American ophthalmologists on annual trips to Myanmar with the goal of helping establish a robust public health program for the detection and treatment of diabetic retinopathy and teaching Burmese ophthalmologists the skills needed to diagnose and treat this disease. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals.</p><p>Dr. Klein is board certified and is a member of several professional organizations including the American Medical Association, the American Society of Retinal Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.</p>

<p>Susan Duberstein, MD, is Associate Professor, Child Neurology and Pediatrics at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Duberstein is an epileptologist with a special interest in complex care. She is the collaborating neurologist for the Linking Individual Needs of Children with Services (LINCS) clinic, which provides a &ldquo;medical home&rdquo; and family-centered care for children with chronic illnesses, multiple conditions and medical technologies. She is also the Associate Director of the Neurocutaneous Clinic, serving children with neurofibromatosis, Sturge-Weber, tuberous sclerosis complex and other neurocutaneous conditions.</p><p>After earning her Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in 2008, Dr. Duberstein completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at the same institution in 2010. She then came to Montefiore Einstein to continue her medical training, completing her residency in child neurology in 2013 and a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology and electroencephalography (EEG) in 2014.</p><p>Dr. Duberstein's research focuses include retrospective studies on neurofibromatosis and tuberous sclerosis complex. She is also one of the leaders of a research project investigating the clinical outcomes of autoimmune encephalopathies. Her work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and abstracts.</p><p>Dr. Duberstein is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology with a special qualification in Child Neurology and holds a subspecialty certificate in Epilepsy. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the Child Neurology Society and the American Epilepsy Society. Dr. Duberstein was elected a Fellow of the American Epilepsy Society in 2022.</p>

<p>Daniel J. Correa, MD, MSc, is a member to the research team for the Public Engagement Core of The Epilepsy Bioinformatics Study for Antiepileptogenic Therapy (EpiBioS4Rx), working with a consortium of researchers, clinicians, patient organization representatives, patients, and caretakers in TBI and Epilepsy to improve public involvement for future treatment trials. His clinical work at Montefiore Medical Center includes inpatient general neurology and epilepsy services, inpatient epilepsy monitoring, long term EEG monitoring of acutely ill patients. Additionally, he supports the NYC Health Hospitals (Jacobi and North Central Bronx) as an epilepsy attending in their clinical neurophysiology lab. Administratively, he serves as the Deputy Chief of Neurology at the Montefiore Medical Center. After Neurology residency at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, he served in the US Army Medical Corps advancing to the rank of Major and received numerous decorations and awards throughout 8 years of active duty service. His military assignments included the Deputy Chief and later Chief of the Neuroscience &amp; Rehabilitation Center, Dwight Eisenhower Army Medical Center (EAMC). At the EAMC he also participated in the clinical education of medical students, residents, and post-doctoral trainees; Neuroscience representative on the Institutional Review Board, and participated in growing a program of neuroscience research. His academic and research interests focus on the areas of traumatic brain injury and epileptogenesis in post-traumatic epilepsy. Under the mentorship of Drs. Solomon L. Mosh&eacute; and Nathalie Jett&eacute;, in 2019 he completed a Master of Science in Clinical Research Methods through the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Clinical Research Training Program. His present work focuses on developing solutions for barriers in the recruitment and implementation of critical care and epilepsy clinical research.<br /><br />In his community outreach and volunteer efforts, Dr. Correa joined a Neurology mission to the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest, and previously volunteered as Medical Translator for a Pediatric Cardiology mission to Guayaquil, Ecuador. In New York City he serves on the board of the New York Aikido Society (Bond Street Dojo), an organization dedicated to teaching principles of non-violence, conflict resolution and personal development. He hopes to continue to support local and international community efforts to bridge the community health gaps for underserved communities.</p>

<p>Daniel Jos&eacute; Correa, MD is Deputy Chief of Neurology at Montefiore and Assistant Professor of Neurology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He continued his studies at Howard University College of Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 2008. Dr. Correa completed his residency in neurology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in 2012. He fulfilled his army duty at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, departing in 2016 as Chief of the Neuroscience and Rehabilitation Center.</p><p>Dr. Correa came to Montefiore to complete a fellowship in neurophysiology and epilepsy in 2017.
