Biography

<p>Mark Shlomovich, MD, is Director, Extracorporeal Liver Support and Director, Pediatric Critical Care Transport at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Shlomovich&rsquo;s clinical focus is on the care of critically ill children with abdominal organ failure, transplantation and post-surgical care. He also focuses on the safe transportation of critically ill children.</p><p>In 2006, Dr. Shlomovich earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from Towson University. He then attended University of Connecticut School of Medicine earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2010. His postgraduate training began at SUNY Downstate Medical Center with a four-year pediatric residency, where he was Chief Pediatric Resident in his final year. He then came to Children's Hospital at Montefiore for a pediatric critical care fellowship, which he completed in 2017.</p><p>Dr. Shlomovich&rsquo;s research interests are in the use of artificial liver support technology, as well as the care of children in liver failure before and after transplantation. In addition, he investigates the safety and efficiency of the transportation of critically ill children. He has shared his research through peer-reviewed journals and abstracts, and is an ad hoc reviewer for BMC Nephrology.</p><p>Dr. Shlomovich is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine. He is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics.</p>

Biography

<p>Omar Saeed, MD, is an Attending Cardiologist at Montefiore and Assistant Professor of Medicine at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical focus is on heart failure, heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.</p><p>After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in molecular and cellular biology from the University of California, Berkeley in 2003, Dr. Saeed attended New York Medical College, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2007. He began his postdoctoral training at Emory University Hospital, completing a residency in internal medicine in 2010 and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease in 2011. He then transferred to Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Here he completed a research fellowship in heart failure, transplant and mechanical circulatory support in 2012, a cardiovascular disease fellowship in 2014 and a fourth-year clinical fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplant in 2015.</p><p>Dr. Saeed&rsquo;s research focuses on the mechanisms of hematological and neurological adverse events during mechanical circulatory support. He has published as primary author or as co-author over 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts, and he has presented regionally, nationally and internationally. He also has been an invited manuscript reviewer for many journals, including <em>Haemostasis and Thrombosis, </em>the <em>Journal of Lung and Heart Transplantation</em> and the <em>Journal of Human Immunology</em>.</p><p>Dr. Saeed has received the Martin Cohen award for excellence in cardiovascular fellowship training, the Edmund Sonnenblick award for excellence in heart failure research and the NIH K23 career development award supporting his commitment to patient-oriented research. He is board certified and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography and the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplant.</p>

<p><span>Dr. Marjan Rahmanian is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Neurology. She is an Associate Medical Director of Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at Montefiore Medical Center. She is also Medical Director of Physician Assistant Critical Care Residency program. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center. After completing her training, she joined the faculty of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, where she served as an Associate Director of Cardiothoracic Surgical ICU at Montefiore Medical center. As a cardiac intensivist, Dr. Rahmanian focuses on the management of post heart surgery like CABG, valve replacemant, Mechanical Circulatory Support like,ECMO, LVAD,Impella, heart and lung transplant.</p>

<p>Richard Lucariello, MD, is Clinical Director, Non-Invasive Cardiology at the Wakefield Campus of Montefiore and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical interests include clinical cardiology, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.</p><p>Dr. Lucariello earned his Bachelor of Science in biology at Fordham University in 1979, followed by his Doctor of Medicine at New York Medical College in 1984. He began his postdoctoral training at Westchester County Medical Center, completing a medicine internship in 1985 and a two-year medicine residency in 1987. He then completed a cardiology fellowship at St. Vincent&rsquo;s Hospital &amp; Medical Center in 1989 before returning to Westchester County Medical Center to complete a nuclear cardiology fellowship in 1990.</p><p>Following his clinical interests, Dr. Lucariello&rsquo;s research focuses primarily on echocardiography. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and abstracts.</p><p>Dr. Lucariello is actively involved in educating medical residents and cardiology fellows at the Wakefield campus, and was awarded the Program Director&rsquo;s Training Award for Cardiology for the 2011&ndash;2012 academic year. He is board certified and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography.</p>
