Dr. Bieri's clinical focus centers on the accurate diagnosis of neuromuscular disease through careful history, neurologic examination and electrodiagnostic tools such as electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction study (NCS) and neuromuscular ultrasound. She sees adults and pediatric patients referred to the EMG laboratory for consultation.

After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in chemistry and biology from Antioch College in 1982, Dr. Bieri earned her Doctor of Medicine at Ohio State University in 1988. She then attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completing an internal medicine internship in 1989 and her neurology residency in 1992, where she was Chief Resident in her final year. Following her final year of residency, Dr. Bieri completed an EMG/neuromuscular disease fellowship at the same institution.

Dr. Bieri's research is focused on diseases that present to the EMG laboratory, including hereditary and acquired peripheral neuropathies, disorders of the anterior horn cell, myopathies, muscular dystrophies and polyradiculopathies and entrapment neuropathies. Her work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and abstracts.

Dr. Bieri is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neuromuscular Medicine and Neurology with added qualifications in Clinical Neurophysiology. She is also certified in Electromyography by the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr. Bieri is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. In 1989, she received the Leo M. Biography

Maneesha Bangar, MD, is Director, Simulation for Education and Patient Safety in Critical Care and Assistant Professor, Medicine at Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical interests include providing care for complex ICU patients, critical care consults, training house staff in running Rapid Response and Cardiac Arrest Codes emphasizing communication and teamwork skills, training CCM Fellows in airway management, emergency procedures, hands on ultrasound training and multisystem bedside training to efficiently manage emergencies. She is also involved in conducting multidisciplinary in situ simulations for better patient care with other departments

In 1999, Dr. Bangar completed her medical education at B.J. Medical College in Pune, Maharashtra, India. She completed her yearlong rotating internship at Sassoon General Hospital, Pune, India in 2000 followed by a job as a Medical Officer in rural India. She then completed a three-year anesthesiology residency at B.J. Medical College in 2004. Dr. Bangar later pursued additional postgraduate training at Montefiore, completing an internal medicine residency in 2012, acting as Chief Resident in her final year, followed by a two-year critical care medicine fellowship, which she completed in 2014.

Dr. Bangar’s research includes the applications of simulation to increase efficiency in patient management, uncovering latent safety threats and quality improvement. She has shared her work through peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, abstracts and poster presentations.

Dr. Bangar is board certified in Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. She is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American College of Physicians. In 2022, she was awarded Faculty Scholar for the Harvard Macy Program for Educators in Health Professions.
