Marjan Rahmanian
<p><span>Dr. Marjan Rahmanian is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Neurology. She is an Associate Medical Director of Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at Montefiore Medical Center. She is also Medical Director of Physician Assistant Critical Care Residency program. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center. After completing her training, she joined the faculty of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, where she served as an Associate Director of Cardiothoracic Surgical ICU at Montefiore Medical center. As a cardiac intensivist, Dr. Rahmanian focuses on the management of post heart surgery like CABG, valve replacemant, Mechanical Circulatory Support like,ECMO, LVAD,Impella, heart and lung transplant.</p>

Michelle M. Perez
<p>Michelle M. Perez, MD, is the Program Director, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Perez has a clinical focus in acute respiratory distress syndrome and predictors of long-term outcomes in critically ill children.</p><p>After earning her Bachelor of Arts at Johns Hopkins University in 2010, Dr. Perez attended Tufts University School of Medicine, earning her Doctor of Medicine in 2014. She began her postgraduate training as a pediatric resident at Icahn School of Medicine Mount Sinai from 2014 to 2017. She then pursued a pediatric critical care fellowship at Montefiore-Einstein, completing it in 2020.</p><p>Dr. Perez’s research is focused on improving multidisciplinary education regarding responses to emergencies. She also has an interest in how socioeconomic determinants impact risk of and recovery from critical illness. Her work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals, abstracts and poster presentations.</p><p>Dr. Perez is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the New York Society of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.</p>
Stuart Packer
<p>Stuart Packer, MD, is a medical oncologist with extensive experience in treating lung, head and neck, prostate and other types of cancer. After graduating magna cum laude from Case Western Reserve University, Dr. Packer received his medical degree from the State University of New York/Downstate Medical Center. He went on to complete a residency in medicine and fellowship in hematology/medical oncology at Duke University Medical Center. Since then Dr. Packer has held clinical and teaching positions at leading cancer centers, including Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care.</p>
<p>Dr. Packer’s clinical expertise is in medical management of lung cancer, head and neck cancer and prostate cancer. He is director of the melanoma and sarcoma programs at Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care. In addition, Dr. Packer is medical director of Montefiore’s Oncology Care Model (OCM), an alternative payment model sponsored by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and aimed at improving patient care coordination and appropriateness of care.</p>
<p>Dr. Packer is the author or co-author of medical textbook chapter and articles in peer-reviewed journals, including <em>Cancer, Clinical Cancer Research, British Medical Journal</em> and <em>Lung Cancer</em>. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.</p>

Katherine M. O'Connor

<p>Katherine O’Connor, MD, is an Associate Director in the Division of Hospital Medicine and an Attending Pediatric Hospitalist at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. She is also an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. O’Connor joined Montefiore in 2007.</p><p>Dr. O’Connor received her Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Neuroscience in 1999 from Harvard University. In 2003, she received her Medical Doctorate from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. O’Connor attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine from 2003 to 2007 where she completed an internship and residency in pediatrics.</p><p>Dr. O’Connor is an advocate for patient and family comfort. Her research and quality improvement efforts are focused on pain control, topical anesthetic use for venipuncture and improving the patient experience. She is currently working on a study to help educate families about firearm injury prevention in the inpatient setting. Dr. O’Connor’s work has been published in multiple manuscripts and book chapters. </p><p>Dr. O’Connor is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.</p>
Irina Murakhovskaya
<p>Dr. Irina Murakhovskaya is an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Hematology). She completed a medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and residency and fellowship training at Montefiore Health System. Her clinical interests focus on monoclonal gammopathy, low-grade lymphoma, and hematologic issues in pregnancy.</p>
<p>Dr. Murakhovskaya is currently chairman of the fellowship Clinical Competency Committee and assistant course director for the Albert Einstein of Medicine Hematology Course. </p>
Amira M. Mohamed
Amira Mohamed completed her medical school education in Khartoum, Sudan before moving to the United States. She completed an internal medicine residency and sub-specialized in Critical Care Medicine after which she joined Montefiore Medical Center in 2019.<br />Dr. Mohamed became involved in the medical education of both internal medicine residents and critical care medicine fellows soon after joining Montefiore and was appointed the Associate Program Director of the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program in early 2021. She rebuilt the fellow curriculum and strengthened their involvement in non-clinical duties such as research and quality improvement. She became the Program Director in 2022.<br />Outside of medical education, Dr. Mohamed is the Associate Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the Moses campus and her research interests include vaccine effectiveness and healthcare disparities.
Amira Mohamed is an intensivist with a specific interest in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and respiratory failure. As the Associate Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the Moses campus, she is involved in multiple quality improvement projects such as ventilator liberation with spontaneous awakening and breathing trials and measures to decrease Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections.<br />As an intensivist and a clinical educator, Dr. Mohamed's focus has been on resident and fellow education. She has contributed to the recent changes in the Critical Care Curriculum with a renewed focus on research and quality improvement. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Mohamed joined the ICY network in a CDC-funded study of vaccine effectiveness and has published multiple studies on this topic.

Michael Miksa
Pediatric critical care
<p>Physician-Scientist, Michael Miksa, MD, PhD received his medical degree from the Free University of Berlin in Germany and his academic degree magna cum laude from The Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. He completed his pediatric residency training at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate, a critical care fellowship at Yale and had worked in the pediatric emergency department for the Boston Children’s Hospital.</p><p>Dr. Miksa presented his work at several meetings both nationally and abroad and is Site Investigator for NEAR4KIDS, a multi-center quality improvement study to limit adverse events during intubations.</p>
