<p>Nicole Jampol Sutton, MD, is Division Chief, Pediatric Cardiology, Director, Invasive Cardiology, Director, Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Program, and Interim Codirector, Pediatric Heart Center at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore. She is also an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Sutton&rsquo;s clinical focus is on congenital heart disease, pediatric interventional cardiology, pediatric pulmonary hypertension and adult congenital heart disease.</p><p>After receiving her Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University in 1994, Dr. Sutton attended New York University Medical School, earning her Doctor of Medicine in 1998. She began her postdoctoral training with a three-year pediatric residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children&rsquo;s Hospital, which she completed in 2001. She followed this with a cardiology fellowship at Boston Children&rsquo;s Hospital, acting as Chief Cardiology Fellow in 2004 and Senior Catheterization Fellow in 2005.</p><p>Dr. Sutton&rsquo;s research focuses on improving interventional techniques and on quality improvement in the cardiac catheterization lab, including radiation safety. She is also involved in several clinical trials of medications for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension. Her work has been published in many peer-reviewed journals, books and abstracts. Dr. Sutton is a reviewer for several journals including the <em>American Journal of Cardiology</em>, <em>Pediatric Cardiology</em> and <em>Cardiology in the Young</em>.</p><p>Dr. Sutton is board certified in pediatrics, pediatric cardiology and adult congenital heart disease. She is a member of several professional societies including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Intervention. <p>Tihomir Stefanec, MD, is Attending Physician, Critical Care Medicine, Assistant Professor, Medicine and Neurology at Montefiore Einstein. His clinical focus is multidisciplinary critical care medicine including medical, surgical, neurologic and cardiothoracic critical care.</p><p>After earning his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Zagreb Medical School in Zagreb, Croatia in 1992, Dr. Stefanec completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Long Island College Hospital in 1997. He then completed a critical care medicine fellowship at Saint Vincent&rsquo;s Hospital and Medical Center in 1999. Following this, Dr. Stefanec completed a pulmonary medicine fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2001.</p><p>Dr. Stefanec&rsquo;s past research focuses on the role of the endothelium and its progenitors in the pathogenesis of disease. <p>Mark Shlomovich, MD, is Director, Extracorporeal Liver Support and Director, Pediatric Critical Care Transport at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at Montefiore-Einstein. <p>Dr. Rashid is American Academy of Ophthalmology board-certified ophthalmologist, specializing in the field of vitreo-retinal diseases. She is an expert in the repair of complex retinal detachments (including diabetic and sickle cell tractional retinal detachments), macular holes, giant retinal tears, epiretinal membranes, and dislocated lens. Her medical areas of expertise includes management of macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, sickle cell retinopathy and retinopathy of prematurity in premature babies. </p><p>She completed her Ophthalmology Residency at the prestigious Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, Boston. She then completed two years surgical retina fellowship at the University of California, Davis.</p><p><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:'Calibri',sans-serif;">Dr. Rashid&nbsp; is the lead ophthalmologist &nbsp;for the New York City Football Club since January 2022.</span></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

Research Focus

<p>Dr. Rashid completed her Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the Schepens Eyes Research Institute, Harvard Medical School where she was involved in the study of inflammatory cytokines in ocular inflammatory diseases. Biography

<p>Eugen C. Palma, MD, FACC, FHRS, is a Professor of Medicine and the Director of Weiler Arrhythmia Service at Montefiore and our <a href="http://www.einstein.yu.edu/faculty/5316/eugen-palma/&quot; rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Albert Einstein College of Medicine</a>. His clinical focus is on the treatment of all arrhythmias, with a special interest in catheter ablation and cardiac resynchronization therapy. Dr. Palma joined the Montefiore team in 1999.</p><p>Dr. Palma received his Bachelor of Science in Basic Medical Science in 1986 and his Doctor of Medicine in 1989 at the University of the Philippines in Manila, Philippines. He completed a residency in internal medicine in 1994, becoming Chief Resident in 1993 at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He then began a fellowship in the Division of Cardiology at Montefiore in 1994. In 1999, Dr. Palma completed a fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of California at San Francisco at the Cardiovascular Research Institute.</p><p>Dr. Palma&rsquo;s research has focused on the outcomes of catheter ablation and pioneering interventional electrophysiology techniques, including subclavian and coronary sinus venoplasty for cardiac resynchronization therapy. His research has been published in various articles, including &ldquo;Subclavian Venoplasty May Reduce Implant Times and Implant Failures in the Era of Increasing Device Upgrades&rdquo; in Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology and &ldquo;Coronary Sinus Venoplasty for Optimal Left Ventricular Lead Placement in Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy&rdquo; in the Journal of Innovations in Cardiac Rhythm Management, as well as numerous peer-reviewed journals and books.</p><p>In 1994, Dr. Palma received the Northport VAMC First Annual Chiefs&rsquo; Award for outstanding achievements in laboratory medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal for Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology,a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and a member of the Heart Rhythm Society.</p>

Biography

<p>Robert J. Ostfeld, MD, MSc, FACC, is the Director of Preventive Cardiology at Montefiore Health System and a Professor of Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Ostfeld treats patients with adult cardiovascular disease, including coronary artery disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and erectile dysfunction with a focus on prevention and treatment through lifestyle change. He works closely with his patients to help them adopt a plant-based diet.</p><p>Dr. Ostfeld received his Bachelor of Arts in the Biologic Basis of Behavior from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa and his Doctor of Medicine from Yale University School of Medicine. He then did his Medical Internship and Residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital and his Cardiology Fellowship and Research Fellowship in Preventive Medicince at Brigham and Women&rsquo;s Hospital, both teaching hospitals of Harvard Medical School. During his Cardiology Fellowship, he earned a Master&rsquo;s of Science in Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health.</p><p>Dr. Ostfeld&rsquo;s research focus is on cardiovascular disease prevention and reversal through lifestyle modification. Ongoing topics he investigates include the impact of plant-based nutrition on erectile function, coronary artery disease, angina, and heart failure. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, books, articles, and clinical statements and has been presented nationally.</p><p>Dr. Ostfeld is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Echocardiography and he is a member of numerous professional societies, including the Physician&rsquo;s Committee for Responsible Medicine and the American College of Cardiology. </p>
