<p>Sarah Evans Norris, MD, MEd, is Director of the Quality in Life Team and Director of Pediatric Palliative Care at Children?s Hospital at Montefiore. She is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and of Neurology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. </p><p>Dr. Norris earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Loyola University Chicago in 1993 receiving the Gladys Kinnery Clinical Excellence award. As a nurse she worked around the globe including as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco before pursuing medical school at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico. She completed the Fifth Pathway Program through New York Medical College and embarked on her pediatrics internship at the University of Medicine & Dentistry New Jersey. She finished her residency at the Medical College of Georgia where she was named Resident of the Year. Following residency she completed a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine and a masters in medical education at Cincinnati Children?s Medical Center. After several years in practice she returned to Cincinnati Children?s to complete a second fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine. Dr. Norris is Board Certified in General Pediatrics and in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.</p> <p>Dr. Norris? research focus is on primary palliative care education and family decision making regarding medical technology. She has given numerous presentations nationally and has a wide range of teaching experience with both adults and children internationally. Dr. Morrone completed her pediatric residency, chief residency, and pediatric hematology oncology fellowship all at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She has also been recognized for her teaching efforts many times and won the Leo M. His clinical work focuses primarily on neurohospitalist and neuromuscular medicine / electromyography (EMG), as well as general neurology.</p><p>After earning a degree in Biology at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997, Dr. Milstein attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 2001. Dr. Milstein completed five years of postgraduate training at Montefiore from 2001-2006, including his internship in medicine, residency in neurology and fellowship in clinical neurophysiology. <p>W. Scott Melvin, MD, is Vice Chairman, Clinical Affairs, Professor, Surgery, Division Chief, General Surgery and Director, Advanced GI Surgery at Montefiore Einstein. He is a nationally recognized clinical specialist in gastrointestinal diseases and minimally invasive approaches to their management. Dr. Melvin specializes in treating conditions such as esophagus and swallowing disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gallstones, and cancers and disorders of the GI tract.</p><p>After earning his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Ohio Northern University in 1983, Dr. Melvin completed his Master of Science from the University of Toledo, Medical College of Ohio in 1987. He completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine in 1992, and then completed a yearlong fellowship in gastrointestinal surgery with Ohio State University in 1993.</p><p>Dr. Melvin&rsquo;s research focuses on discovering minimally invasive options for treating gastrointestinal diseases and new technology developments in surgery. He has authored over 120 peer-reviewed articles and 20 book chapters and is commonly invited to give lectures on the treatment of esophageal disease in national and international settings. Dr. Melvin serves on multiple editorial boards and review panels.</p><p>Dr. Melvin is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been named one of America's Top Doctors and America's Top Cancer Doctors by Castle Connolly for many years and has been president of several national surgical societies. Dr. Melvin has also participated in many international educational and service events, including operating and teaching in Africa, China, Japan, and South and Central America.</p>

Biography

<p>Allison M. Martin, MD, is an attending physician at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics, Microbiology and Immunology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Martin&rsquo;s clinical focus centers on pediatric brain and spinal cord tumors.</p><p>After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in biology from Bryn Mawr College in 2001, Dr. Martin earned her Doctor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College in 2007. She completed her pediatrics residency at the University of Pittsburgh in 2010, followed by a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health in 2013. Following this, Dr. Martin completed an additional fellowship in pediatric neuro-oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2014.</p><p>Dr. Martin&rsquo;s research focuses on high-risk group 3 and refractory medulloblastoma. Her research program focuses on uncovering new ways to harness the immune system to treat this disease. Her work has been shared through numerous peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, case reports and invited talks and panels. She has also been principal investigator and co-investigator on several funded research projects and is a reviewer for <em>Cancers</em>.</p><p>Dr. Martin is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. She is a member of the Children&rsquo;s Oncology Group (COG), the Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program (CTEP) and the Society of Immunotherapy and Cancer (SITC). In 2021, Dr. Martin received the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellows Teaching Award from the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein. She was named a &ldquo;Top Doctor&rdquo; by Castle Connolly in 2024.</p>
