Biography

<p>Jacob F. Schulz, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who provides comprehensive pediatric orthopedic care with an emphasis on spinal deformity, neuromuscular disease and trauma. He has a particular interest in the growing spine, with experience using the vertical expandable titanium rib (VEPTR) device and vertebral tethering through a thoracoscopic approach. At our Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery.</p><p>He served both his internship and residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia where he was honored with the Frank Hammond Sivitz and Chief Resident Teaching Awards in 2011. During his residency, he traveled to Neustadt, Germany to study spine deformity at the Schoen Clinic, and to San Pedro Sula in Honduras to help CURE International provide world class orthopedic care to children. Dr. Schulz completed his fellowship in pediatric orthopedics and scoliosis at Rady Children&rsquo;s Hospital-San Diego, ranked second by <em>U.S. News &amp; World Report</em> in 2012.</p><p>Dr. Schulz&rsquo;s research has been published in The Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics (JPO) and presented at several national meetings. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America (POSNA).</p>

<p>Kerry Morrone, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the Director of the Sickle Cell Program and the Director of the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Fellowship Program at Montefiore. Dr. Morrone focuses on classical hematology, particularly sickle cell disease and hemoglobinopathies, platelet disorders, thrombosis, and bone marrow failure syndromes.</p><p>Dr. Morrone graduated from New York University, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 2003. She then attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she received her Doctor of Medicine in 2007 and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Morrone completed her pediatric residency, chief residency, and pediatric hematology oncology fellowship all at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She has also been recognized for her teaching efforts many times and won the Leo M. Davidoff Society &ndash; Albert Einstein College of Medicine Teaching Award in 2010 and 2015.</p><p>Dr. Morrone is committed to improving quality of care and health care utilization in chronic illness, particularly sickle cell disease, and thalassemia through her research. Other current research interests include pulmonary complications of sickle cell disease particularly asthma and acute chest syndrome, in addition to infectious complications and thrombotic complications of sickle cell disease.</p>

He is a board-certified orthopedic specialist with expertise in general orthopedics, the nonoperative management of musculoskeletal conditions, fracture surgery and complications of fractures.<br /><br />He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 1980 and completed his orthopedic residency at Montefiore in 1985. He subsequently completed a fellowship in orthopedic traumatology at the University of Texas and a second fellowship in fracture care at the Kantosspital in Basel, Switzerland.<br /><br />Dr. Levin teaches classes in bioethics and a course in Patients, Doctors and Communities, both of which focus on collaboration among patients and professionals regarding healthcare delivery. Known for exploring treatment options with his patients along with the desire to identify a strategy for successful care without surgical intervention, he has been called on to lecture on patient-clinician communication and surgical safety. Dr. Levin is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and chairman of the organization's Committee on Ethics and Lectures.<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>Chaiyaporn Kulsakdinun, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery.
