<p>Ana Y. Valdivia, MD, is an attending physician at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Diagnostic Radiology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Valdivia&rsquo;s clinical focus involves all aspects of nuclear medicine, with a particular focus on positron emission tomography&ndash;computed tomography (PET-CT).</p><p>After receiving her Bachelor of Science in chemistry at the University of Puerto Rico in 1990, Dr. Valdivia attended Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine, earning her Doctor of Medicine in 1994. She completed her internal medicine residency at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in 1997, followed by her nuclear medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in 1999.</p><p>Dr. Valdivia&rsquo;s research involves PET-CT, frequently focusing on brain imaging. <p>Mark I. Travin, MD, FACC, MASNC, is Director of Cardiovascular Nuclear Medicine at Montefiore. He is also a Professor of Radiology and Medicine at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical focus is on cardiac stress testing, radionuclide myocardial (perfusion and metabolic) imaging, and quantitative blood flow.</p><p>Dr. Travin earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in 1979 at Yale College, followed by his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1983 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. After graduating, he went on to complete both an internship and a residency in medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital. In 1986, Dr. Travin began a fellowship in cardiology at the Brown University Integrated Fellowship Program. After that, he went on to complete a clinical and research fellowship in medicine and cardiology, with emphasis in nuclear cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. </p><p>Dr. Travin?s research focus is on cardiac innervation radionuclide imaging with I-123 mIBG and analogous PET tracers, and quantitative blood flow assessment with myocardial perfusion PET. He has a significant body of published research on cardiac imaging, and has received numerous awards and honors, including the Cardiology Program Director?s Training Award, and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology 2015 Zaret-Beller Distinguished Journal of Nuclear Cardiology Service Award. </p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Kristine Torres-Lockhart, MD, FASAM is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, as well as the founding director of the Addiction Consult Service at Montefiore's Weiler Hospital. She is Program Director of the Addiction Medicine Fellowship and Co-Director of the Addiction Medicine rotation for medical trainees. An addiction medicine and internal medicine physician, she leads the development and implementation of health system interventions to improve substance use disorder (SUD) care in acute care settings and transitions of care to post-acute and ambulatory care settings.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"><br />Dr. Torres-Lockhart provides SUD treatment, HIV/AIDS care, hepatitis C treatment, and general internal medicine care at several sites across Montefiore Medical Center, including a community health care center. She also actively teaches and supervises medical students, residents, and fellows. She is double board certified in addiction medicine and internal medicine and credentialed as an HIV specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine.&nbsp;<br /><br />Dr. Torres-Lockhart completed her fellowship training in addiction medicine at Montefiore Medical Center. Prior to arriving at Montefiore, she completed her residency training in internal medicine and primary care at Brigham and Women&rsquo;s Hospital in Boston, MA, where she also served as primary care chief medicine resident at the West Roxbury and Jamaica Plain Veterans Affairs Medical Centers. She received her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and her medical degree from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. She is the PI for a HRSA training grant and co-PI for an OASAS training grant to lead the development of educational opportunities in building the addiction medicine workforce. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the New York Society of Addiction Medicine previously as Communication Chair and now as Secretary.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kristine E. Torres-Lockhart, MD, FASAM, is Director, Addiction Medicine Fellowship Program at Montefiore Einstein, Founding Director, Addiction Consult Service at Weiler Hospital and Assistant Professor, General Internal Medicine and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Torres-Lockhart is a general internist, primary care provider and addiction medicine specialist. She focuses on caring for people who use substances and people with substance use disorders, providing care in hospital settings and in outpatient clinics.</p><p>After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in neuroscience from Dartmouth College in 2010, Dr. Torres-Lockhart earned her Doctor of Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in 2016. She completed an internship and residency in internal medicine and primary care at Brigham and Women&rsquo;s Hospital in 2019. Following this, Dr. Torres-Lockhart completed a fellowship in addiction medicine at Montefiore Einstein in 2020.</p><p>Dr. Torres-Lockhart's research focuses on evidence-based and harm-reduction-oriented strategies for addressing substance use disorder care in acute care settings, integration of addiction medicine into medical education and optimizing transitions of care for people who use drugs. She has been principal investigator and co-investigator on funded research projects and her work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Torres-Lockhart has also shared her work through numerous invited presentations, abstracts and poster presentations. <p>Dr. Hina J. Talib, a Brown University&nbsp;<em>summa cum laude</em>&nbsp;graduate, earned her&nbsp;<em>Bachelor of Science</em>&nbsp;in Neuroscience. Dr. Talib offers Nexplanon dermal implants, as a method of long acting hormonal contraception, for teen pregnancy prevention at both sites. Her clinical interests include adolescent health, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, contraception, mental health, care of children in foster care, and care of the hospitalized adolescent.</p>
<p>Dr. Talib is board-certified in Pediatrics and in Adolescent Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and a member of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM) and the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (NASPAG). She serves as Associate Editor of the <em>Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology</em>, the official journal of NASPAG, and as a co-chair of the NASPAG resident education committee. Biography

<p>Hina J. Talib, MD, is Director of the Adolescent Medicine Fellowship Program and an Attending Physician in the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore. Dr. Talib is also an Associate&nbsp;Professor of Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her clinical focus is adolescent health, pediatrics and adolescent gynecology, contraception, mental health, care of children in foster care and care of hospitalized adolescents. She joined the Montefiore team in 2013.</p><p>Dr. Talib received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience in 2001 from Brown University. In 2006, she received her Doctor of Medicine from Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University. In 2009, Dr. Talib completed a residency in pediatrics at New York Presbyterian Phyllis and David Komansky Center for Children&rsquo;s Health &ndash; Weill Cornell Medical Center. She became Chief Resident in Pediatrics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center that same year. Dr. Talib went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at CHAM in 2013.</p><p>Dr. Talib has been studying the effects of Vitamin D deficiency in the adolescent age group since 2012. <p>Dr. Clement Tagoe obtained his medical degree from the University of Ghana Medical School, Ghana, and a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Leeds, UK. His basic science research interests included the study of the role of annexins in cell function and rheumatic diseases, and subsequently the mechanisms of disease in transthyretin amyloidosis using several animal models of transthyretin amyloidosis. His clinical work in the area of transthyretin amyloidosis has greatly illuminated our understanding of the form of amyloidosis associated with the Transthyretin V122I (pV142I) mutation, which is found in about 3 to 4% of African Americans. His current work focuses on the role of autoimmune diseases in fibromyalgia and chronic widespread pain, and in particular the association of these syndromes with autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD). His work also explores the other musculoskeletal and rheumatic manifestations of autoimmune thyroid disease, including the association with peripheral osteoarthritis and spinal osteoarthritis. These autoimmune syndromes can occur in the absence of thyroid dysfunction and are of particular interest to physicians and patients because AITD is by far the commonest autoimmune disease.</p>

<p>Dr. Swiderski has been a clinician-educator for over twenty-five years with a teaching and research focus on the patient-physician relationship, bioethics and the professional development of physicians. Her other areas of interest include spirituality in medicine and the role of women in medicine. She is a member of the Ethics Committee for the Montefiore Medical Center, and an active member of the Society of General Internal Medicine, The American Academy of Communication in Health Care, and American Society of Bioethics and Humanities.</p>

<p>Deborah M. Swiderski, MD, is an attending physician and Professor, Medicine and Family and Social Medicine at Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical focus centers on primary care internal medicine.</p><p>After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts from Barnard College, Dr. Swiderski attended Columbia University, earning her Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Pre-Medical Studies followed by her Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Swiderski came to Einstein to complete her internship and residency in internal medicine. She continued her medical education, completing a certificate in Bioethics at New York University/Montefiore Medical Center, as well as a certificate as a Palliative and End-of-Life Care (EPEC) Trainer from Northwestern University.</p><p>Building on her clinical focus, Dr. Swiderski&rsquo;s research interests include communication skills, end-of-life care, health disparities and Bioethics. These are synthesized in her work leading the Serious Illness Conversation Project at Montefiore. She has been Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on a number of funded research projects, and she has given invited presentations nationally and internationally. Dr. Swiderski&rsquo;s work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, books, chapters, review articles and abstracts. She has been a peer reviewer for scientific journals, including the <em>Journal of General Internal Medicine</em> and <em>Annals of Internal Medicine</em>.</p><p>Dr. Swiderski is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Internal Medicine.
