<p>Jamie Twaite, PhD, is a Neuropsychologist, Co-Director, Burke Rehabilitation Hospital&rsquo;s Concussion Management Program, Director, Neuropsychology Externship and Assistant Professor, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical focus is on the neuropsychological evaluation and rehabilitation of individuals with cognitive and emotional concerns related to neurologic, medical and psychiatric illnesses. She has a particular interest in the diagnosis and management of dementia and acquired brain injury (ABI), as well as in the rehabilitation of spinal cord injury (both with and without concurrent ABI).</p><p>After completing her Master of Psychology at Columbia University in 2008, Dr. Twaite pursued her Doctor of Philosophy in psychology at City University of New York (CUNY), earning the degree in 2016. That same year, she completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship in clinical psychology-adult neuropsychology track with the Henry Ford Health System. She then went on to complete her postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology with the Institute of Living, Hartford Hospital, with focused training in the assessment of memory disorders/dementias, acquired brain injuries, and severe and persistent mental illness.</p><p>Dr. Twaite&rsquo;s research interests include cognitive and emotional functioning following stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI) and other acquired brain injury in individuals with Parkinson&rsquo;s disease as well as in healthy populations, such as in musicians. Her work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and she has given paper and poster presentations at scientific meetings nationally and internationally. Dr. Twaite is a reviewer for the <em>Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology</em> and the <em>Journal of Psycholinguistic Research</em>.</p><p>Dr. Twaite is a member of several professional associations, including the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society for Clinical Neuropsychology and the International Neuropsychological Society. In 2013, Dr. Twaite received the Graduate Center Doctoral Student Research Grant from CUNY.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Kristine Torres-Lockhart, MD, FASAM is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, as well as the founding director of the Addiction Consult Service at Montefiore's Weiler Hospital. She is Program Director of the Addiction Medicine Fellowship and Co-Director of the Addiction Medicine rotation for medical trainees. An addiction medicine and internal medicine physician, she leads the development and implementation of health system interventions to improve substance use disorder (SUD) care in acute care settings and transitions of care to post-acute and ambulatory care settings.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;"><br />Dr. Torres-Lockhart provides SUD treatment, HIV/AIDS care, hepatitis C treatment, and general internal medicine care at several sites across Montefiore Medical Center, including a community health care center. She also actively teaches and supervises medical students, residents, and fellows. She is double board certified in addiction medicine and internal medicine and credentialed as an HIV specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine.&nbsp;<br /><br />Dr. Torres-Lockhart completed her fellowship training in addiction medicine at Montefiore Medical Center. Prior to arriving at Montefiore, she completed her residency training in internal medicine and primary care at Brigham and Women&rsquo;s Hospital in Boston, MA, where she also served as primary care chief medicine resident at the West Roxbury and Jamaica Plain Veterans Affairs Medical Centers. She received her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and her medical degree from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. She is the PI for a HRSA training grant and co-PI for an OASAS training grant to lead the development of educational opportunities in building the addiction medicine workforce. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the New York Society of Addiction Medicine previously as Communication Chair and now as Secretary.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kristine E. Torres-Lockhart, MD, FASAM, is Director, Addiction Medicine Fellowship Program at Montefiore Einstein, Founding Director, Addiction Consult Service at Weiler Hospital and Assistant Professor, General Internal Medicine and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Torres-Lockhart is a general internist, primary care provider and addiction medicine specialist. She focuses on caring for people who use substances and people with substance use disorders, providing care in hospital settings and in outpatient clinics.</p><p>After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in neuroscience from Dartmouth College in 2010, Dr. Torres-Lockhart earned her Doctor of Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in 2016. She completed an internship and residency in internal medicine and primary care at Brigham and Women&rsquo;s Hospital in 2019. Following this, Dr. Torres-Lockhart completed a fellowship in addiction medicine at Montefiore Einstein in 2020.</p><p>Dr. Torres-Lockhart's research focuses on evidence-based and harm-reduction-oriented strategies for addressing substance use disorder care in acute care settings, integration of addiction medicine into medical education and optimizing transitions of care for people who use drugs. She has been principal investigator and co-investigator on funded research projects and her work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Torres-Lockhart has also shared her work through numerous invited presentations, abstracts and poster presentations. She is a reviewer for scientific journals, including Addiction Science and Clinical Practice, the Journal of Addiction Medicine, the Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment and the Journal of Hospital Medicine.</p><p>Dr. Torres-Lockhart is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine with certification in Addiction Medicine. <p>Gitit Tomer, MD, is Director of the Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Program at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) and Professor of Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Tomer has been a member of the Montefiore team since 2009, with a clinical focus on inflammatory bowel disease, performance improvement and capsule endoscopy.</p><p>Dr. Tomer received her medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine, Tel-Aviv University, in 1995. She completed her Pediatric internship and residency at New York University School of Medicine in 1998, and went on to complete her Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in 2001.</p><p>Dr. Tomer&rsquo;s focus on IBD, performance improvement and endoscopy extend to her research interests. She is the CHAM physician leader of ImproveCareNow, a national collaborative that champions improved care for children and youth with Crohn&rsquo;s disease and ulcerative colitis. Her research in pediatric IBD examines many facets, extending from the racial differences in initial presentation, early treatment and 1-year outcomes in pediatric Crohn&rsquo;s disease, to differences in satisfaction with work-life balance among pediatric gastroenterologists. <p>Dr. Michael Thorpy, board-certified in sleep disorders medicine, is Director of the Sleep-Wake Disorders Center at the Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, New York. Both a clinician and a well-published researcher, Dr. Thorpy serves as Professor of Clinical Neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Thorpy served on the National Sleep Foundation (NSF) Board of Directors and founded and directed the NSF's National Narcolepsy Registry, which was located at Montefiore Medical Center. He is past Chairman of the Sleep Section of the American Academy of Neurology. He is President of the New York State Society of Sleep Medicine (NYSSSM).</p>
<p>Dr. Thorpy was born in New Zealand and earned his medical degree from the University of Otago in 1973. He has published extensively on narcolepsy, insomnia, and sleep disorders. His 14 print books include "The Encyclopedia of Sleep and Sleep Disorders". He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, including publications in journals such as <em>The New England Journal of Medicine.</em> Dr. Thorpy's computerized textbook on sleep medicine, SleepMultiMedia (available on DVD-ROM), is the only one of its kind.</p>
<p>In 1993, Dr. Thorpy was awarded one of the sleep field's highest honors: The Nathaniel Kleitman Award from the American Sleep Disorders Association, and in 2012 the National Sleep Foundation's Lifetime&nbsp;Achievement Award.</p>

<p>Michael J. Thorpy, MD, is Director, Sleep-Wake Disorders Center at Montefiore and Professor of Neurology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical focus is on the clinical diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of all sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, narcolepsy, insomnia and restless legs syndrome, among others.</p><p>In 1968, Dr. Thorpy received his Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Otago in New Zealand. He continued studying at this institution, and in 1973 received his Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Thorpy&rsquo;s postgraduate training spans over nine years. From 1974 to 1976, Dr. Thorpy trained as a rotating house physician and medical registrar at Dunedin Public Hospital, New Zealand. He continued his training in Bombay, India as a Neurology Clinical Assistant at Sir J.J. Group Hospitals in 1977. That same year, he travelled to London, U.K and spent time training at National Hospital as a Clinical Assistant, Edgware General Hospital as a Locum Respiratory Physician, and Kings College Hospital as an Endocrinology Registrar. Following this, in 1978, Dr. Thorpy completed a two-year neurology residency at the State University of New York, becoming Chief Neurology Resident in his final year. In 1982, Dr. Thorpy completed a fellowship in neuroendocrinology at Montefiore.</p><p>Expanding on his clinical specialties, Dr. Thorpy&rsquo;s research focuses on the medications used in the treatment of sleep disturbance and excessive daytime sleepiness. His work has been published in a large number of peer-reviewed journals, medical articles and books.</p><p>In 1993 Dr Thorpy received the Nathaniel Kleitman Award of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and in 2012, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Sleep Foundation. Biography

<p>Ivy Tam, MD, FAAP, is an Attending Physician and a Non-neonatal Emergency Transport Coordinator at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore. She is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. </p><p>In 2009, Dr. Tam received her Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences at Cornell University. She then attended SUNY Upstate Medical University, where she received her Doctor of Medicine in 2013. Dr. Tam began her postgraduate training with a residency in pediatrics at New York University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in pediatric hospital medicine in 2018 at the University of California San Diego. </p><p>Dr. Tam&rsquo;s research aims to improve care and communication for patients with limited English proficiency, as well as standardizing pain practices for children. She has shared her work through presentations in academic forums and scientific meetings, and is currently in the process of being submitted for publication. </p><p>2017, Dr. Tam received the CARES Award from hospital staff at Rady Children&rsquo;s Hospital for her support during the medical director&rsquo;s absence. Dr. Tam is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. </p>
