<p class="MsoNormal" style="background: white;">Dr. Shiloh is the Director of the Critical Care Medicine Consult Service and Professor of Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. As a clinician-educator he serves as the director of critical care ultrasonography.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="background: white;">After receiving his medical degree from the Medical School for International Health at Ben Gurion University of the Negev in 2005, he completed both his Internal Medicine residency and Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Shiloh joined the Montefiore/Einstein Critical Care faculty in 2010.&nbsp;</p>

Biography

<p>Ariel L Shiloh, MD, is Director, Critical Care Consult Services, Professor, Medicine and Associate Professor, Neurology at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Shiloh&rsquo;s clinical interests include the early detection and treatment of critical illness, point-of-care ultrasonography for the evaluation of critical illness and advanced airway management.</p><p>After earning his Bachelor of Arts from Yeshiva University, Dr. Shiloh attended the Medical School for International Health at Ben Gurion University, Be&rsquo;er Sheva, Israel, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2005. He came to Montefiore for his postdoctoral training, completing his internship and residency in internal medicine in 2008, followed by his fellowship in critical care medicine in 2010.</p><p>Dr. Shiloh's research includes the clinical use of point-of-care ultrasonography in critical illness, improvement of airway management, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He has shared his work through peer-reviewed journals, invited presentations, books, abstracts and poster presentations at national conferences. He has also been a reviewer for several journals including <em>Chest</em>, the <em>American Journal of Critical Care</em> and the <em>European Journal of Anesthesiology</em>.</p><p>Dr. Shiloh is board certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Neurocritical Care and Hospice &amp; Palliative Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine. <p>Dr. Matthew Shaines completed a medical degree at SUNY Downstate Medical Center - Brooklyn and an internal medicine residency at Montefiore/Einstein. He was then recruited to the Einstein faculty at Montefiore and became one of the initial group of hospitalists who founded the Teaching Hospitalist Program at Montefiore in 2004.</p>
<p>Dr. Shaines has served as Assistant Director of the Hospitalist Service, managing the Moses Teaching Hospitalist Program; founding Director of the Medicine Consult Service, creating a dedicated medicine consult rotation for the housestaff, with a mission of high quality service and education on topics pertaining to consultative and perioperative medicine; Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program, serving as a liaison between the program and the Division of Hospital Medicine. He specializes in interventional pulmonology, a subspecialty of pulmonary and critical care medicine that uses endoscopy and other minimally invasive tools to diagnose and treat patients with benign and malignant chest diseases.</p><p>After earning his Doctor of Medicine at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran, Dr. Sadoughi completed an internal medicine residency at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. Following this, he completed a pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Hofstra-North Shore LIJ School of Medicine in 2014 and an interventional pulmonary fellowship at Washington University in 2015.</p><p>Dr. Sadoughi's research interests are in developing and applying advanced technologies for early and minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary diseases. These include lung cancers, airway disorders, pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung disease, respiratory failure and pleural diseases. His work has been published in journals including <em>Chest</em> and the <em>Journal of Molecular Medicine</em>, and he has made presentations at national and international medical meetings. One of his recent research studies focuses on the development of brachytherapy seeds (DaRT) using alpha radiation for the treatment of lung cancer, sponsored by Alpha Tau Ltd. In another study, he works with an international group of pulmonologists on the role of confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE) in the diagnosis of different benign and malignant lung diseases. His work related to increased precision and accuracy of biopsy of peripheral lung nodules by intraprocedural 3D scanning in combination with ultrathin bronchoscopy has been published in the <em>Journal of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology</em>. Another area of Dr. Sadoughi&rsquo;s research involves the synergy of local therapies such as cryotherapy with immunotherapy in the treatment of lung cancer. He has presented this exciting topic at the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP) Conference in 2022.</p><p>Dr. Sadoughi is board certified in interventional pulmonology, pulmonary disease, critical care medicine and internal medicine.
