<p>Elissa B. Gross, DO, MPH, is an attending physician at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her clinical focus is on the care of children admitted to the general pediatrics service as well as co-management of patients on the surgical subspecialty services.</p><p>After receiving her Bachelor of Arts at Yeshiva University, Stern College for Women in 1998, Dr. Gross attended Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, earning her Doctor of Osteopathy in 2002. For her postgraduate training, she completed her pediatric residency in 2005 at Children&rsquo;s Hospital Medical Center of Akron, then pursued a pediatric academic fellowship and her Master of Public Health at University of Minnesota, completing both in 2008.</p><p>Dr. Gross&rsquo; research focuses include asthma and breastfeeding and how being hospitalized impacts children and families. She has shared her work through peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, abstracts, poster presentations and invited presentations. She also has served as a reviewer for Pediatric Hospital Medicine, Journal of Asthma and Pediatrics.</p><p>Dr. Gross is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Society of Hospital Medicine.</p>

<p>Samuel Gorstein, MD, is Director, Resident Education, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM) and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Gorstein&rsquo;s clinical focus is on the care of critically ill infants, children and adolescents, focusing on conditions requiring intensive monitoring, life support and complex interventions, such as respiratory failure, sepsis, trauma and post-surgical recovery.
</p><p>After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Biophysics from Brown University, Dr. Gorstein attended the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 2009. He then began his postgraduate training with an internship and residency in Pediatrics at Baystate Medical Center from 2009 to 2012. In 2015, he completed a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at Massachusetts General Hospital. </p><p>Dr. Gorstein oversees resident education in the PICU and has developed a didactic curriculum for residents rotating through the PICU at CHAM. His research aligns with his clinical expertise, and his work has been shared through peer-reviewed publications, invited presentations, abstracts, and poster presentations at professional meetings. </p><p>Dr. Gorstein is board-certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

<p>Susan Duberstein, MD, is Associate Professor, Child Neurology and Pediatrics at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Duberstein is an epileptologist with a special interest in complex care. She is the collaborating neurologist for the Linking Individual Needs of Children with Services (LINCS) clinic, which provides a &ldquo;medical home&rdquo; and family-centered care for children with chronic illnesses, multiple conditions and medical technologies. She is also the Associate Director of the Neurocutaneous Clinic, serving children with neurofibromatosis, Sturge-Weber, tuberous sclerosis complex and other neurocutaneous conditions.</p><p>After earning her Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in 2008, Dr. Duberstein completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at the same institution in 2010. She then came to Montefiore Einstein to continue her medical training, completing her residency in child neurology in 2013 and a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology and electroencephalography (EEG) in 2014.</p><p>Dr. Duberstein's research focuses include retrospective studies on neurofibromatosis and tuberous sclerosis complex. She is also one of the leaders of a research project investigating the clinical outcomes of autoimmune encephalopathies. Her work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and abstracts.</p><p>Dr. Duberstein is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology with a special qualification in Child Neurology and holds a subspecialty certificate in Epilepsy. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the Child Neurology Society and the American Epilepsy Society. Dr. Duberstein was elected a Fellow of the American Epilepsy Society in 2022.</p>

<p>Pe&rsquo;er Dar, MD, is Director of Fetal Medicine and OBGYN Ultrasound at Montefiore and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Women&rsquo;s Health at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Dar&rsquo;s clinical focus is on the care of women who carry babies with disorders and medical conditions that may affect their lives and he leads the Fetal Medicine and Surgery Team at Montefiore. He particularly specializes in diagnosis and management of medical and structural abnormalities in the fetus and in complicated twin and triplet pregnancies. His expertise include performing detailed ultrasound examination of the fetus including fetal echocardiography (scanning of the fetal heart) and fetal neurosonography (scanning of the fetal brain) as well as performing in-utero fetal surgeries such as fetoscopic laser surgery for monochorionic twins with twin to twin transfusion syndrome, in-utero blood transfusion for fetuses with anemia and in-utero drainage and shunt procedures. Dr. Dar is also experienced in performing amniocentesis, chorionic villous sampling (CVS) and multifetal selective reduction for multiple pregnancies.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>Dr. Dar completed his Doctor of Medicine from Tel-Aviv University in Tel-Aviv, Israel in 1986. He started his postgraduate education at Assaf Harofe Medical Center, Tel-Aviv University, with a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a specialty in high-risk pregnancies from 1992 through 1998. He then came to Montefiore-Einstein, completing a two-year fellowship in medical and reproductive genetics. After spending two years as an attending-specialist in the field of prenatal diagnosis he completed in 2005 three-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Montefiore-Einstein. In 2007, he completed additional training in fetal surgery in world-known fetal surgery centers in France and Belgium. &nbsp;</p><p>Dr. Dar is very active in research and he is currently the principal investigator in many studies including international multicenter studies. His research focus is in fetal medicine and surgery, non-invasive prenatal screening and placenta accreta spectrum. He has shared his work in many peer-reviewed journals, textbook chapters, abstracts and invited presentations. He is also a reviewer for national and international journals including the <em>American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Plos one and Prenatal Diagnosis. </em></p><p>Dr. Dar is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Clinical Genetics and is a member of several professional societies including the Society of Maternal and Fetal Medicine, International Fetal Medicine and Surgery Society and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has been regularly listed among Castle Connolly Top Doctors for obstetrics and gynecology in the New York Metro area.</p>

<p>Jillian Connors, MD, FAAP, is a neonatologist and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at Montefiore Einstein. <p>Gina Cassel-Choudhury, DO, is Director, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Quality &amp; Safety Council, Assistant Medical Director, Patient Safety, and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) and Montefiore Einstein. Her focus at CHAM is a multidisciplinary approach to the introduction and maintenance of quality improvement initiatives which promote patient safety.</p><p>After earning her Bachelor of Science in 2003, Dr. Cassel-Choudhury attended the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, receiving her Doctor of Osteopathy in 2007. She began her postgraduate training with an internship and residency at North Shore-LIJ, Cohen Children&rsquo;s Hospital from 2007 to 2010. Following this, she came to CHAM for a three-year fellowship in pediatric critical care, which she completed in 2013.</p><p>Dr. Cassel-Choudhury&rsquo;s research focus revolves around the standardization, implementation and maintenance of guidelines to optimize patient safety. Such work has included a protocol for enteral feeding of patients on high-flow nasal cannula, a standardized algorithm to prevent iatrogenic drug withdrawal and protocol-driven management of convulsive status epilepticus. She has shared her work through peer-reviewed journals, abstracts and presentations.</p><p>Dr. Cassel-Choudhury is board-certified in general pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Society of Critical Care, Section on Pediatrics. She is also a member of the Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS) network.</p>

<p>Dr. Campbell, Program Director for the fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and Director of the Division of Neonatology at The Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore, conducts the Low Birth Weight Infant Evaluation and Assessment Program (LEAP). She focuses on perinatal care and health services delivery, psychosocial support interventions for mothers of premature babies, perinatal ethics and collaborative decision-making, outcomes for very low birth weight infants and newborn hearing screening. She is a co-chair of the Faculty Mentoring Work Group of the Education and Faculty Support Committee at Einstein and led a faculty development initiative within the Department of Pediatrics.</p><p>A member of the National March of Dimes Bioethics Committee and NICU Family Support Project Advisory Group, Dr. Campbell also serves on the New York City and Bronx Infant Mortality Review Committees and is a co-chair of the Bronx Regional Perinatal Forum. She is a member of the Greater New York Hospital Association Perinatal Safety Collaborative Advisory Group and the National Quality Forum Perinatal Collaborative and the New York State Obstetric and Neonatal Quality Collaborative, Neonatology Expert Workgroup. Dr. Campbell also serves on the New York State Palliative Care Education and Training Council. Dr. Campbell is the recipient of the 2000 Bronx Perinatal Consortium Distinguished Clinical Care Award, the 2005 New York State Perinatal Association L. <p>Elizabeth M. Alderman, MD, a nationally recognized specialist in adolescent medicine, is Professor of Pediatrics and Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology and Women&rsquo;s Health at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Alderman is the Chief, Division of Adolescent Medicine at the Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore. She is currently the Program Director of the Post-doctoral fellowship in Adolescent Medicine and is past Program Director of the Pediatric Residency Program. Dr. Alderman is founder of the Montefiore Adolescent Primary Care Initiative.</p>
<p>Dr. Alderman received her BS, with honors, from Cornell University and MD with Distinction in Research from the State University of New York at Stony Brook Medical School where she was selected for membership to Alpha Phi Omega medical honors society. Dr. Alderman completed her pediatrics residency and adolescent medicine fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/ Montefiore Medical Center.</p>
<p>She joined the pediatric faculty at Einstein/Montefiore upon completion of her fellowship in 1992 and has remained throughout her career, achieving promotion to professor in 2003.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Dr. Alderman is the Co-chairperson of the AAP Council of Adolescent and Young Adult Health. She was Chair of the AAP Committee on Adolescence for 4 years and was previously a member of for the 6 years. She served as Chairperson of the AAP Section of Adolescent Health Executive Committee from 2008-2012. As a member of AAP NY Chapter 3 Executive Council for over 25 years, she has served as chair of the Committee on Adolescence and on its Executive Committee. She is a past-president of the North American Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and former Member at Large of the Board of Directors for the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine. Dr. Alderman has been a leader or panelist on many national initiatives related to adolescent health.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Dr. Alderman&rsquo;s clinical interests include care for adolescents with heavy menstrual bleeding, contraception for adolescents with chronic illness, menstrual disorders, eating disorders and overall adolescent sexual health. She is co-editor of the AAP Textbook of Adolescent Health Care. Dr. Alderman has authored 65 research papers, review articles and chapters. She has presented over 40 abstracts at national meetings and delivered over 50 lectures and workshops in the past 5 years at regional and national meetings.</p>
<p>Dr. Alderman is known nationally and throughout the region as an outstanding clinician and she is regularly named to the &ldquo;Best Doctors in New York&rdquo; and &ldquo;New York Super Doctors&rdquo; lists. In 2003, the American Academy of Pediatrics recognized her with a Special Achievement Award from the New York Chapter for promoting adolescent health.&nbsp;</p>

Biography

<p>Elizabeth M. Alderman, MD, FAAP, FSAHM, is Chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Children&rsquo;s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM). She is also a Professor of Pediatrics and Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology and Women&rsquo;s Health at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Alderman&rsquo;s clinical focuses are on office gynecology, including a special practice for girls with heavy menstrual bleeding or abnormal vaginal bleeding, as well as the medical management of eating disorders. Her clinical expertise also includes reproductive health for both adolescent boys and girls. She joined the Montefiore team as faculty in 1992.</p><p>Dr. Alderman received her Bachelor of Science with Honors, from Cornell University, College of Agriculture and Life Science in 1983. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine degree with Distinction in Research, from State University of New York at Stony Book in 1987. Dr. Alderman began a residency in Pediatrics in 1987, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at Montefiore and Einstein. </p><p>Dr. Alderman&rsquo;s research interests focus on quality improvement in the delivery of adolescent health care and health screening. She has published research on sexually transmitted infections and adolescent gynecology.</p><p>Dr. Alderman has been a recipient of numerous awards for her clinical work and research. In 2013, she received the Adele Dellenbaugh Hoffman Award for excellence in adolescent medicine, given by the American Academy of Pediatrics.</p><p>Dr. Alderman is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of many professional societies, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, where she is currently the Chair of the Committee of Adolescence and past chairperson of the Section of Adolescent Health Executive Committee, the Society for Adolescent Medicine, as a former Executive Board member and the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology of which she was past president.</p>
