Allison M. Martin
<p>Allison M. Martin, MD, is an attending physician at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics, Microbiology and Immunology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Martin’s clinical focus centers on pediatric brain and spinal cord tumors.</p><p>After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in biology from Bryn Mawr College in 2001, Dr. Martin earned her Doctor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College in 2007. She completed her pediatrics residency at the University of Pittsburgh in 2010, followed by a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health in 2013. Following this, Dr. Martin completed an additional fellowship in pediatric neuro-oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2014.</p><p>Dr. Martin’s research focuses on high-risk group 3 and refractory medulloblastoma. Her research program focuses on uncovering new ways to harness the immune system to treat this disease. Her work has been shared through numerous peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, case reports and invited talks and panels. She has also been principal investigator and co-investigator on several funded research projects and is a reviewer for <em>Cancers</em>.</p><p>Dr. Martin is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. She is a member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), the Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program (CTEP) and the Society of Immunotherapy and Cancer (SITC). In 2021, Dr. Martin received the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellows Teaching Award from the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein. She was named a “Top Doctor” by Castle Connolly in 2024.</p>

<p>Rishi Malhotra, MD, is Director of Neurocritical Care, Director of the Neuroscience ICU and Director of the Neurocritical Care Fellowship, as well as Associate Professor of Neurology, Medicine and Neurological Surgery at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Malhotra’s clinical focus includes the critical care management of subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracerebral hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, acute spinal cord injury, ischemic stroke, status epilepticus, brain tumors, neuromuscular respiratory failure and central nervous system infections.</p><p>A graduate of the combined BA/MD program at Brooklyn College, Dr. Malhotra completed his Doctor of Medicine with State University of New York - Downstate Medical Center in 2004. After completing his internal medicine internship at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in 2005, Dr. Malhotra completed his three-year neurology residency at Columbia University Medical Center in 2008. He then pursued a neurocritical care fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medical Center, which he completed in 2010.</p><p>Dr. Malhotra’s scholarly interests include intracerebral hemorrhage, hypoxic-ischemic brain injury and status epilepticus. He has shared his work through peer-reviewed journals, books, abstracts and poster presentations.</p><p>Dr. Malhotra is board certified in Neurology and Neurocritical Care. He is a member of the Neurocritical Care Society.</p>
Harry J. Lieman

<p>Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS),<em> in vitro</em> fertilization (IVF), Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis and Screening (PGD/PGS), minimally invasive surgery to repair the uterus and fallopian tubes and Reproductive Ethics and Jewish Law. </p>
<p>Dr. Lieman is the medical director of Montefiore's Institute for Reproductive Medicine and Health located in Hartsdale, NY. He also is the chairman of the Reproductive Bioethics Committee at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and recently was appointed as a member of Yeshiva University's Program for Jewish Genetic Health as the liaison for Fertility and Reproductive Technologies.</p>
<p>Dr. Lieman has participated in clinical research in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and has presented nationally on this topic. He currently is on faculty at Yeshiva University’s Center for the Jewish Future and has been actively lecturing rabbis about infertility and the intricate details of the clinical evaluation of the infertile couple and the clinical and laboratory techniques available to promote conception. He is an ATIME medical advisor and he also is working clinically and academically with the PUAH Institute in Jerusalem (Fertility and Medicine according to Halacha) and has presented collaborative data at international meetings. Dr. Lieman completed his undergraduate training at Yeshiva University. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn (“Downstate Medical Center”) and then completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. After residency, he completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.</p>

He began his postdoctoral education with a four-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Montefiore-Einstein, acting as administrative chief resident in his final year. He then pursued a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, completing the fellowship in 1996.</p><p>Dr. Lieman’s research interests include PCOS and fertility treatment outcome studies. His most recent studies have used the annual Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) clinical summary report to assess various IVF treatments and results at a national level. He has been an active contributor to his field of research, publishing journal articles, abstracts, book chapters and presenting at annual conferences and information sessions.</p><p>Dr. Lieman has been recognized several times by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) with STAR Awards for his many presentations at ASRM annual meetings. He has been listed in Top Doctors, New York Metro Area from 2014 through 2021. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.</p>
Paul E. Levin

<p> </p>Paul E. Levin, MD, joined Montefiore and our Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2004 and is the Vice Chair of the Department of Orthopedics as well as the Director of the Department of Orthopedics, Moses Campus. At Einstein, he serves as Professor of Orthopedic Surgery. He is a board-certified orthopedic specialist with expertise in general orthopedics, the nonoperative management of musculoskeletal conditions, fracture surgery and complications of fractures.<br /><br />He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 1980 and completed his orthopedic residency at Montefiore in 1985. He subsequently completed a fellowship in orthopedic traumatology at the University of Texas and a second fellowship in fracture care at the Kantosspital in Basel, Switzerland.<br /><br />Dr. Levin teaches classes in bioethics and a course in Patients, Doctors and Communities, both of which focus on collaboration among patients and professionals regarding healthcare delivery. Known for exploring treatment options with his patients along with the desire to identify a strategy for successful care without surgical intervention, he has been called on to lecture on patient-clinician communication and surgical safety. Dr. Levin is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and chairman of the organization's Committee on Ethics and Lectures.<p> </p>
Leslie S. Lam

<p>As a pediatric endocrinologist, Dr. Lam manages and cares for children and adolescents in many areas of clinical endocrinology, including growth disorders, premature pubertal advancement or delay, diabetes, adrenal disorders, and calcium and vitamin D abnormalities, with particular interest in pediatric thyroid diseases and thyroid cancer. Besides his clinical work, Dr. Lam is actively involved in the teaching of pediatric house staff, fellows and medical students in both the hospital and the outpatient clinic settings.??? </p><p>As a clinical research scientist, Dr. Lam is actively engaged in research concerning the role of hormonal disorders in children. He has particular interest in thyroid diseases and thyroid cancer as they pertain to the pediatric population and is involved in several projects examining the methods by which thyroid diseases and thyroid cancer are generally evaluated and treated.</p>
Roy G. Kulick
<p>Dr Kulick is Director of the Orthopaedic Hand Service at Montefiore Medical Center. He has a special interest in reconstructive hand surgery, arthritis,Dupuytren's disease nerve compression, including carpal tunnel syndrome. He attended Cornell University Medical College, and trained at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, and The Hospital For Special Surgery. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and holds the sub-specialy Certificate of Added Qualifications for Surgery of the Hand.</p>

<p>Roy G. Kulick, MD, Director of Hand and Upper Extremity surgery, specializes in reconstructive hand surgery, arthritis, Dupuytren’s disease and nerve compression, including carpal tunnel syndrome. He is board certified and holds a Sub-Specialty Certificate of Added Qualification for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Kulick also serves as an Associate Professor at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine.</p><p>Dr. Kulick received his bachelor’s degree from New York University and his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College. He completed his residency at Columbia University Medical Center, an internship at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center during his first year of residency, and a fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery.</p><p><em>New York</em> magazine has recognized Dr. Kulick as a “Best Doctor” in New York and America.</p>

<p>Alexa J. Karkenny, MD, is an attending physician in the pediatric division of orthopedic surgery and Clinical Instructor at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Karkenny’s clinical interest is in the treatment of pediatric and adolescent musculoskeletal problems. She has particular focus on neuromuscular diseases affecting the extremities and the spine, complex pediatric and adolescent hip disorders, bone deformities, limb length discrepancies, scoliosis and traumatic injuries.</p><p>Her medical education began at Drexel University, earning her Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering in 2010 followed by her Doctor of Medicine in 2014. Dr. Karkenny started her postgraduate training at Montefiore-Einstein with an internship and residency in orthopedic surgery from 2014 to 2019. She then went to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to pursue a yearlong fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery, which she completed in 2020.</p><p>Dr. Karkenny’s research interests include neuromuscular scoliosis, adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, intraoperative navigation in orthopedic surgery, hip dysplasia, slipped capital femoral epiphysis, Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, vitamin D deficiency and pediatric fractures, pediatric injury prevention and occupational radiation exposure. Mani D. Kahn

<p></p>Mani Kahn, MD, is a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of injuries to the upper and lower extremities as well as to the pelvis. He has a particular interest in treating periarticular fractures, fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum, performing complex limb reconstruction, and the correction of failed or infected fractures.<br /><br />Dr. Kahn attended the University of Maryland for his undergraduate degree, where he pursued research in biochemistry and was awarded several research fellowships, including the Rollinson Fellowship and the famed Howard Hughes Medical Institute's fellowship. He went on to obtain a Masters of Science in physiology and biophysics from Georgetown University. Dr. Kahn continued his studies at New York Medical College, where he obtained his Doctor of Medicine and Masters in Public Health. Dr. Kahn completed his residency training at Montefiore Medical Center. While a resident, he received two of the highest awards given to residents: the Anatomy Award and the Richard Selznick Memorial Research Award.<br /><br />Following his residency, Dr. Kahn continued his training at Duke University with a fellowship in trauma surgery, where he received an AOTrauma research fellowship. He was also privileged to continue his training with two sought-after traveling fellowships. Dr. Kahn received a travelling fellowship award in limb lengthening and reconstructive surgery, and he travelled across the country to work with the best limb reconstruction surgeons in the world. He was also selected as the recipient of the prestigious Jack McDaniel AO Travelling Fellowship, and studied under the guidance of Dr. Marcel Jakob at University of Basel Hospital in Switzerland.<br /><br />Dr. Kahn has authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, and has been invited as faculty in a national course for the training of residents in the principles of fracture care.<p></p>
