Amira M. Mohamed
Amira Mohamed completed her medical school education in Khartoum, Sudan before moving to the United States. She completed an internal medicine residency and sub-specialized in Critical Care Medicine after which she joined Montefiore Medical Center in 2019.<br />Dr. Mohamed became involved in the medical education of both internal medicine residents and critical care medicine fellows soon after joining Montefiore and was appointed the Associate Program Director of the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program in early 2021. She rebuilt the fellow curriculum and strengthened their involvement in non-clinical duties such as research and quality improvement. She became the Program Director in 2022.<br />Outside of medical education, Dr. Mohamed is the Associate Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the Moses campus and her research interests include vaccine effectiveness and healthcare disparities.
Amira Mohamed is an intensivist with a specific interest in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and respiratory failure. As the Associate Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the Moses campus, she is involved in multiple quality improvement projects such as ventilator liberation with spontaneous awakening and breathing trials and measures to decrease Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections.<br />As an intensivist and a clinical educator, Dr. Mohamed's focus has been on resident and fellow education. She has contributed to the recent changes in the Critical Care Curriculum with a renewed focus on research and quality improvement. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Mohamed joined the ICY network in a CDC-funded study of vaccine effectiveness and has published multiple studies on this topic.
<p>Amira Mohamed, MD, is Director, Critical Care Fellowship Program, Associate Director, Medical Intensive Care Unit, Moses Campus and Assistant Professor, Medicine at Montefiore Einstein. As an intensivist and a clinical educator, Dr Mohamed's focus has been on resident and fellow education. She has contributed to recent changes of the critical care curriculum at Montefiore Einstein, with a renewed focus on research and quality improvement. She has shared her research through peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and abstracts.</p><p>Dr. Mohamed is board certified in Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. She is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the Association of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Program Directors.</p>

<p>Renee M. Moadel, MD, MSc, is an Attending Physician in the Department of Radiology and an Assistant Professor of Nuclear Medicine and Medicine at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Moadel has been with Montefiore since 2002, with a clinical focus on therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals in oncology and pediatric nuclear medicine, and a particular interest in the therapy of thyroid, liver, and prostate cancers.</p><p>Dr. Moadel received her Doctor of Medicine in 1996 and Master of Clinical Research in 2007 at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. <p><span style="color:#525458;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;background-color:#ffffff;">Pedro Maria, DO, obtained his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency training in urology at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, and he obtained fellowship training in minimally invasive and robotic surgery at Montefiore and Einstein. Dr. Maria's practice includes the treatment of patients with all forms of urologic disease. Dr. Maria has a particular interest in the treatment of male sexual dysfunction.</span></p>

<p style="padding-top:0px;color:#525458;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;background-color:#ffffff;">Ali Mansour, MD, is Medical Director, Advanced Pulmonary Failure and Lung Transplantation and Assistant Professor at Montefiore Einstein. His clinical focus includes interventional pulmonary medicine, interstitial lung disease, lung transplantation, vascular medicine and sleep medicine.</p><p style="padding-top:0px;color:#525458;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;background-color:#ffffff;">In 2000, Dr. Mansour received his Bachelor of Chemistry at the American University of Beirut. He continued his studies at this institution and received his Doctor of Medicine in 2004. Dr. Mansour began his postgraduate training in 2004 with a yearlong internship at the American University of Beirut Medical College. His training then took him to Kansas, where he completed an internship and residency in internal medicine in 2008 at the Kansas University Medical School. Following this, Dr. Mansour completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care that included advanced fellowship training in pulmonary transplantation at Baylor College of Medicine in 2011. In 2012, he completed a sleep fellowship at the University Hospital Case Western Medical Center. Dr. Mansour is board certified in echocardiography and vascular medicine and is accredited as an interventional pulmonologist.</p><p style="padding-top:0px;color:#525458;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;background-color:#ffffff;">Dr. Mansour’s research focuses on lung transplant and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support during critical illnesses from severe lung disease. He is also interested in lung cancer staging and advanced airway procedure to improve and prolong survival. More recently, he supervises numerous clinical studies and trials including novel therapies for SARS-CoV-2. His work has been published in a number of peer-reviewed publications, and he has been an invited speaker to numerous national oral presentations.</p><p style="padding-top:0px;color:#525458;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;background-color:#ffffff;">Dr. Mansour is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Thoracic Society, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology. He is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.</p>
Richard J. Lucariello

<p>Richard Lucariello, MD, is Clinical Director, Non-Invasive Cardiology at the Wakefield Campus of Montefiore and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinical interests include clinical cardiology, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.</p><p>Dr. Lucariello earned his Bachelor of Science in biology at Fordham University in 1979, followed by his Doctor of Medicine at New York Medical College in 1984. He began his postdoctoral training at Westchester County Medical Center, completing a medicine internship in 1985 and a two-year medicine residency in 1987. He then completed a cardiology fellowship at St. Vincent’s Hospital & Medical Center in 1989 before returning to Westchester County Medical Center to complete a nuclear cardiology fellowship in 1990.</p><p>Following his clinical interests, Dr. Lucariello’s research focuses primarily on echocardiography. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and abstracts.</p><p>Dr. Lucariello is actively involved in educating medical residents and cardiology fellows at the Wakefield campus, and was awarded the Program Director’s Training Award for Cardiology for the 2011–2012 academic year. He is board certified and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography.</p>
